I was unwisely self medicating, and out of plain fear that a serious complication could occur, I went to see a doctor, had tests, and talked to a counselor about my issues. I then was given a prescription for a VERY LOW DOSE that runs out soon, and for the next appointments I was also asked to write down everything I think HRT could do for me, what goals I had for myself, and concerns over a few family issues I brought up. I was glad to get a prescription, but the appointments are this week and I am positive the doctor has no intention of renewing the prescription until a full evaluation with the therapist is completed. That may take many months, but I know this whole mess is my own fault, so after a lot of ranting I accept it that way.
My question: Total time on hormones has been six weeks. So, other than the depression over this situation, has anyone else had to stop hormones, and what are the effects?
I am glad you saw a doctor, Kathy. Things will work out, and you know we're here for you. Hugs, Devlyn
Thanks Devlyn.
I'm o.k. with it, and know things will work out one way or another.
I think it should be all right. Since it hasn't been too long, there shouldn't be any real complications. You will certainly get depressed, anxious about masculinisation and all, but there's probably no major effect. Nothing that I know of, anyway.
But I still think it might be unwise of your doctor to interrupt your HRT. It wasn't the one smartest thing to do, but despite that, I can't help but think that going on then off hormones can't be the optimal thing to do, regarding health...
Nothing major will happen if you don't have them for a short time. I was out for about a week for the same reason. Ran out and had to wait till payday to get them. Poor planning on my part.
If you are out for a while the T may begin to take control, unless you are taking anti-androgen.
