When Jan Buterman was given the news that the Alberta government would be reinstating funding for gender reassignment surgery, he struggled to find the words to describe his emotions.

"Wonderful....excellent news. Had I known this would be happening, I would give my right arm right now to be in Edmonton," said Buterman, who was in New York for an academic conference Thursday. "I am smiling widely. I am in awe. I don't even know what to say -- I am in shock, but it's a good shock."

Oh my god yes! Okay I take back all the nasty things I said about Albertans (well, most of them). Awesome, so awesome. So happy now.
