Did you have one or more e-mail addresses with your old name on them and were able to change them? I've got a hotmail address that would need to be changed, but so far I haven't found any option to do it. The thing is that if I could just change the name but still have the same 'mailbox' I wouldn't have to do registering processes and other boring stuff all over again, but I can't find a way to do it. Did you have to show legal evidence of name change, or anything at all?
Thanks.
A quick Google turned this page up :-

yep...thats how I changed mine ;)
Yeah, but no. What I mean is changing the address, like if my address is potatojones@hotmail.com I can change it to applejones. I read the page you posted but what I was actually looking for is this one: http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_change_my_email_address.html. (http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_change_my_email_address.html.) I suppose there's no way then, which sucks. Well, I'll create a new one and do the thing all over again.
But then again, did you have any trouble changing paid-for e-mail addresses, like non-free ISPs ones? I'm asking because I figure maybe you have to change your name first, legally, then send them some proof of that... *shrugs*
now I understand what you need, I have an email addy with my first initials and last name, which will not change no matter what first name I use, I just changed the name people see on the other end when they get my emails
but, I have one with my male name in the email addy, I cannot change that with out getting a whole new addy, which wont work because its for business use
a couple freebie emails I use have no names in the addy so I just changed what others see when they get mail.
Ah, from what I am aware of you have to register for an entire new email account if you want to change the actual address (as opposed to the name linked to that account).
Regarding paid email accounts, you generally have to get in contact with the administrator (if its a work or university one, then you can usually get in touch with them pretty easily) if you want a change and - like you said - probably need proof.
But if its not that type, then i'd imagine it would be much harder and arduous to get it changed. Sorry!

Thanks ladies! Yeah, should be no biggie I hope.
Just get a brand new email address, and set up the old one as an alternate address. All messages will be duplicated to your new account, and all mail forwarded.
Well, I changed my Windows ID and it worked! I think it's got it all, but will check everything to make sure. Yay!
