It was about two months ago for me, I had some with a steak and cheese sub. Hugs, Devlyn
Now I think about it, mines was about 2-3 months too! I now realise two things - 1. I'm sticking to my healthy(ish) diet and 2. Time flies!
X
Oh, and mines were with some form of special edition McDonalds burger!
This week, it was fries and fish nuggets
I had baked sweet potato fries this week, but those probably don't count.
But regular fires? A long time. Months.
My burger at Dukes came with fries, but I gave them to the kid.
Never had French Fries, I eat Chips every now and again.
French fries?! The audacity! The hubris!
They're Belgian fries.
I'm just saying.
Why do Americans call them french fries? No one else in the Universe does, as far as I know and my inter galactic travel is quite frequent.
Probably goes back to World War 1. Most of our army spoke French then. Easy mistake to make. But it's gone too far! Our fries are our pride!!
I believe "french fried potatoes" became popular in America as the "doughboys" of World War One returned from France in 1918-1919.
I haven't called them French fries for years and most folks I know just call them fries anymore
I tend to call them pan fried potatoes because that's how I make them :) slice up a microwaved potato and throw it in a pan with some olive oil and fry 'em up
I actually just made some for a dinner side earlier and added some black beans, onions and cheese
Yesterday.
In the UK and Australia, you buy them from the 'fish and chip' shop. With vinegar and salt Mmmmmmmm. Or covered in gravy Mmmm again.
In Holland with mayonnaise sauce. In the USA with a rather unpleasant 'meat' patty?
I'll walk down to the beach with fish and chips for lunch. Mmmmm yet again.
Hungry

I started using malt vinegar on my fries/chips, after picking up the habit in the UK in the 1980s.
These days, I don't often eat potatoes, because of their medium-high glycemic index.
Belgian pride burns with a fierce flame! Hugs, Devlyn
If oven baked frozen CHIPS count, then 2 nights ago, unless I get any more hungry tonight. :P Lately I have been having them with gravy and Haloumi cheese in my version of Poutain. Nice.
Karen.
Too long ago to remember. Now, thanks to this evil thread, I'm hungry for some.

This is, after all, DEVILyn's topic!
Nicely done, Jamie! I should give you an applaud, or would you prefer a smite? Hugs, Devlyn
About seven years ago, the last time I was in France. :P

I rather prefer your beers!
Today :D
I had ultrasonic fries :o at a food show today
Today, as well. Though the very thought makes me feel regretful of such a decision...
I'll usually eat chips once a week before class if I have a lesson but not french fries as I dont like mc d's as there to oily...
Oh my god I want some right now. I've a sweet potato in the fridge I could cut up, but I'm saving it for a particular meal. I love french fries. :)

That looks revolting. I agree with Virginia. Puked over fries
Blasphemy!
I like waffle fries. Resisting the urge to google how to make them at home.

Waffle fry heaven... O.O
*tries to grab through screen*
Five minutes after making my last comment on this thread I went and turned the oven on. ;D
Ok you people have caused a problem.
Do I get chicken and chips with gravy from the shop. Or cook lamb chops and roast potatoes and pumpkin for dinner?

Cut thin and smeared all over should work!
Bugga.
Going out and buying chicken, chips, peas and gravy.
Into a cold and miserable night, i will brave the elements and boldly go forward with sincerity and good cheer.
Farewell world I my not return.
Loins get Girded.
Cold weather gear to the fore.
Goddess it's 7 pm and the temp has plummeted to 15C
I hate winter but I'm brave.
Serves yourself right you silly bugga, for not slipping out to your Coles express at lunch time to buy tonights dinner.
Hope it was hot and enjoyable. Not necessarily in that order. And that your Loins didn't get Girded too much. Can be quite damaging to them in this weather.
Bon appetite
Catherine

Y'know, this didn't even cross my mind. Frozen potatoes are probably not expensive, even if they are cut like that. Omnomnom. Need waffle fries nao.
This evening when the Uni Philosophy Club held it's weekly meeting at Metz restaurant. Four of us shared a large bowl of chips, and Garlic Aioli and Tomato Sauce on the side. As well as a BBQ Chicken pizza and several jugs of beer.
Existentialists like Sartre' spent a lot of time in cafe's, no doubt with a glass of wine, and the Greeks were wine drinkers. Not to mention the Germans and beer.
It seems to go with the territory. I like Philosophy! ;D

15c? We call that summer in Scotland! :'(

Mine or the person's fries across the table?
As a diabetic I usually avoid starches, or at worse, limit myself to a fry or two max! And I avoid red meat so no hamburgers usually.
In Louisiana you eat them with Louisiana Hot Sauce, not Catsup. But NOLA is a city of rice - not potatoes so much
Still - good for the palate, bad for the body!
Quick! When was the last time you had french fries? Maybe two weeks ago?
Lizzy
How about right now! Sweet potato fries. Got love 'em.
for lunch. i work in a pizza place and fries are always so quick and easy to make, its not a good thing

There were several reasons I emigrated from Liverpool. The UK weather was one. I find it very amusing when I look at the world temps and I'm freezing in Adelaide at a higher temp than summer in the UK. We have just had our coldest and wettest day for seven years at 13 C. I was having serious thoughts of not getting out of bed. Hibernation seemed to be sensible.
At the last Olympics there was lots of discussion on athletes overheating. I think think problem in London will be if they freeze.
Give me 35C. just nice.
Hugs and shivers
Cindy
