Title: Challenge Before Me
Post by: gennee on June 20, 2012, 10:53:08 AM
Challenge is something I welcome. I challenge myself to see where it will take me. All challenges are not the same. Some you anticipate; others you have some trepidation about going forward.

The challenge I have before me whether or not to become an activist. I believe that transgender people need to become more visible if anyone is to take us seriously. I'm don't need to be the center of attention but I cannot sit by and let trans people be trashed by ignorant and prejudiced folks.

This is a challenge for me because I'm a quiet and reticent person by nature. A few people have said to me that I am a leader. I believe I'm more of a helper rather than a leader. Position, ranks and titles don't faze me. I'm pleased that my place of worship is taking an active stand for justice. This seems to be the route that I'm being lead to.

As I consider all the options and possibilities, this seems to be another part of my coming out process. I support LGBT causes and transgender issues in particular. If this is the way that I need to go, then go I must.
