Title: Work sucks! Advice?
Post by: Josh on June 21, 2012, 01:06:16 PM
So I started off stealth at work... Since my name isn't legal AND I pass... Just not for 20 years old, that didn't last too long and I don't mind people knowing really unless they are super ignorant/disrespectful. Well I'm not sure if they are just mistaken or if they are ignorant or unaccepting, but only like two coworkers or less are calling me he... And I honestly just cannot take being she'd by so many people who even KNOW that I'm trans...that I'm he.

I would talk to upper management to see if they could help you resolve your issue.

Sorry to you have to deal with this nonetheless.

What would you consider upper management? I'm sorta shy so it's hard for me to handle but yeah. Thanks for the input!

I don't know if there's discrimination laws for transpeople in your state, but if there are saying that you feel harrassed by others at work because of your gender identity may be enough to cause someone to take action.

Jason's right, I guess it would depend on what sorta place you're working at and where abouts in the world you are.
Either way, I hope this gets resolved. For me, it makes it so much more uncomfortable if you have both male and female pronouns being chucked around. That's just IMO though.

Where I'm from, we have a couple of organizations that take all forms of discrimination very seriously who can intervene with workplaces and educate/deal with people who are causing someone distress. Perhaps you could search through Google what sort of places may deal with similar things in your area.
