Let's play the movie game (test your knowledge a bit). Here's how it works. I'll start off by naming a movie, then the next person to post should name an actor (not the character) who played in that movie (directors are okay to name also). The third post should be a different movie that that actor played in. Then the cycle starts over again.
Example:
Post 1 - Rain Man
Post 2 - Dustin Hoffman
Post Three - Tootsie
Post Four - Dabne Coleman (is that how you spell it?)
Post Five - You've Got Mail, etc, etc, etc.
Get it? Got it? Good! Here goes. The official first movie is.....
Philadelphia
Alright, now it's your turn ladies. Have at it!
Tom Hanks
Castaway
yeah choose a hard one
robert zemeckis (director)
Geez, I had to google that one:
Back to the Future (director of that too)
Michael Fox
Doc Hollywood
Doc Hollywood! Good one.
Woody Harrelson
Natural Born Killers
oliver stone
Any Given Sunday
al pacino
The Devils Advocate
Debra Monk
First Wives Club
Lets up the ante a little. Lets go backwards in time only. Not too fast though don't want to get time warp lash. ;D
Goldie Hawn
Okay, we'll back it up to 1974...
The Sugarland Express
Steven Speilburg
Ben Johnson
Come back "Shane"
Good one Beth,
Of course you know the big question in that movie. At the end the wounded Shane rides off into the sunset. As he is riding off he slumps a bit in the saddle. Did Shane die? As to the next actor to be named I'll give someone else an opportunity to provide that one.
Cassie
Before we go on, let's back track. Spielberg directed Sugarland Express and Ben Johnson was in that movie as well. Buuuut the next to be named should have been another movie that Spielberg directed and not Ben Johnson. No matter, just wanted to make sure we're all good.
Cassie,
The next actor HAS to be Alan Ladd...and no he did not die.
I believe Speilburg wrote Sugarland Express, but did not direct.
beth
Quick google search reveals Sugarland Express Directed by Steven Spielburg Story written by Steven Spieburg and Hal Barwood.
Sugarland Express was Spielburg's first movie, prior to that all his credits are TV. Since we are currently working backwords I figured bend the rules a little to keep it in the movie genre. Smaller backword steps. That last one gave me time warp lash.
Next Movie
Botany Bay
One of the actors in this one has deep emoceanal ties.
Cassie
Jonathan Harris
Alright now, pick one of his that will bring us back to the present. These old movies drive me nuts.
I was actually looking for James Mason who played Cpt. Nemo in the 1954 version of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Now were going to have to get time warp lash. So back to the future with...
It's A Bugs Life
I picked Harris, because he has done Toy Story 2 (w/ Tom Hanks, my favorite) and Bugs Life (my son's favorite).
Kevin Spacey
Ahh I can think a fairly new movie for him
The Negotiator.
The star of this one is one of my favorite actors and this was a really good movie.
I know who you're looking for, but let's go with John Spencer just for the fun of it.
Nobody has anything for John Spencer?
How about the The Rock.
That'll work.
Ed Harris
I'll try Enemy at the Gate
Joseph Fiennes
I must admit I was expecting Jude Law rather than the star of Shakespear in Love. There you go.
Love the segway Shelly.
I like to go for the not so obvious. It makes the game a bit more challenging I think. Although, sometimes too challenging.
I'm going for the director this time.
John Madden
Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
I love this movie especially the star.
Cassie
This movie will make you blush.
John Hurt
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
Richard Harris
And that's "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" Dennis.
Quote from: Cassandra on October 17, 2005, 12:13:14 AM
Richard Harris
And that's "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" Dennis.
Nope, not anywhere except the US. They changed the title for the Yanks. It's Philosopher's Stone everywhere else.
Dennis
Hmmmmm, learn something new every day I guess.
Robbie Coltrane
Nuns on the Run
Very funny movie. I give it ;D ;D ;D ;D
Alright, this time I'll go with the other lead...Eric Idle
Too easy, but I'll dispense with the obvious Monty Python Movies and go staright for...
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Oh, taken it back to the old school again huh? Alright.
Charles McKeown
Old School? Gee has it been that long? Charles McKeown eh? Sticking with Monty are we?
Allrighty then. If you think your going to get Life of you know who out of me you are sadly mistaken. >:D
Eric the Viking
Okay, let's move it to the B films. And we are talking major B films here.
Tsutomu Sekine
Alright, what's his name is a hard one. And actually upon further review he kills the game. He was in The Toxic Avenger. The problem is that all the actors in that movie you could come back with have really done nothing else.
Sooooo, since I killed it...Allow me to start fresh again. My fault. Sorry. Here's a new movie to start with.
Mad Max
I was going to not go for the obvious but on checking I found none of the actors did much after this movie or before other than TV so I have to go with...
Mel Gibson
You can't go past Braveheart. I cried all through the scene where that b..... Robert the Bruce betrayed him.
Shelley
Braveheart was an excellent movie as are just about every film Mel's ever done. Okay speaking of the Bruce this next actor will take us to one of the best chick flicks of recent years. Rhymes with Ra Ra.
Angus MaCfadyen
Cassie
Do you mean the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood Cassie.
Shelley
I do indeed! I laughed and I cried. When Sidda is inducted into the sisterhood I laughed and cried at the same time.
Okay I'll go with David Lee Smith.
Cassie
A Walk to Remember
Paula Jones
I'm going to wait until the next actor/actress is named. I want to take the movie side for a change. :)
Cassie
Fair enough.
The Man Who Loved Women
Okay I can't help myself on this one cause I know how you like to go for the not so obvious.
Denise Crosby
Definitely a not so obvious. But did you have to pick a trekie? That's one show I can not watch.
Jackie Brown
Although I do love trek I was actually thinking of Deep Impact. Which also had a great performance by Tia Leon.
Chris Tucker
One of the best movies with absolutely no plot and horrible acting....
Friday
A cult classic >:D
Okay, I'm going to throw you a curve ball. I'll give you the movie, you give me the actor who connects the two.
Ghosts of Mars
Cassie
Curve ball? That's a 75mph fast ball down the middle...
Ice Cube
It's going, going...gone!!! And the groud goes wild!!!
Three Kings and dont send in the Clooney's
Cassie
Oh come on now, Clooney is way to easy. As is Markie Mark.
Jamie Kennedy
How about Son of the Mask?
Shelley
How about Peter Callan.
Cassie
Babe: Pig in the City
James Cromwell
I just have to go with
I, Robot
Shelley
Then you would have to follow that with;
Wil Smith
Have to be Independence Day then.
Shelley
Perhaps you are fishing for;
Brent Spiner
How about
Star Trek: Nemisis
Shelley
See, now there you go and disappoint me. You should have gone for First Contact which would have brought us to Alice Krige an actress from down under. But Nemisis it is and:
Ron Perlman
Yes your right but that wouldn't have brought us to the 'Chronicles of Riddick'.
Shelley
How about Karl Urban
How about Ghost Ship?
Shelley
How about Emily Browning?
Hi Cassie,
I thought we had lost this thread for a while there.
Now to Emily wasn't she in the Man Who Sued God. Funny movie that one.
Shelley
Not lost just only three people playing.
And yes she was as was Billy Connolly.
Then I have to go the Last Samurai
Shelley
OK Dammit, finally one I know (no taunting me for doing the obvious).
Tom Cruise
Let's get this back into mainstream :)
Dennis
Jerry Maguire,
"You had me with hello........"
beth
How about, Renee Zelweger
One of my favs.......
Bridget Jones Diary ;D
Oh alright, if it means more people will play, I'll go obvious...
Hugh Grant
Well just as I was about to post Hugh Grant you pop up, Brenda so I'll say
Two Weeks Notice
Nine out of every 10 people who meet my wife say she looks just like the co star in this movie, so I'll have to go with another obvious one
Sandra Bullock
Well that would bring up my favorite movie.
Miss Congeniality
oooh oooh
terry gilliam
i love that guy, hes like tim burton just not goth
Now one of my favourites.
Momty Python and the Holy Grail
Shelley
"Tiny Rocks?"
How about Johns Cleese.
I can see where this is headed.
Fish Called Wanda!
Yay I'm back in the game.
Dennis
Ah now Jamie Lee Curtis.
That's the body shape that I wish for whenever I find a bottle on the beach.
Hasn't worked yet but a girls gotta have something to wish for. ;D
Shelley
I was hoping someone would say Jamie Lee Curtis.
How about True Lies.
The political line is too easy how about Tom Arnold.
Shelley
Okay how about, Big Bully.
And now one for the oldies
Don Knotts
Shelley
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
Much thought required here the guy from bewitched
Dick Sargeant
Shelley
OK, I'll play your silly game!
Live a Little, Love a Little
All shook up?
Welcometo the game Thundra,
I'll go with Michele Carey
Shelley
Well seeing as she has done about 1 NOT made for TV movie in the last 20 years I don' have much choice, but to say
In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro
Someone help quick, we're headed down the dead end road again.
How about Timothy Bottoms.
Shelley
Ummmm, The Last Picture Show?
Which should lead us to.......
I'll try Cloris Leachman.
Shelley
Burt Reynolds,
Shelley
Who could pass up on Jackie Gleason.
Shelley
??? The Hustler
Nice job pulling us out of the depths ladies.
Alright...George C. Scott
Naturally puts us at....
:eusa_hand: hangon.
I think we may need a ruling here.
In the 1997 Teleplay (TV) version George C Scott played the # Juror
But in the 1957 Movie this was played by Lee J Cobb
I belive you were the instigator of this mad romp through movieworld Brenda I will bow to your guidance on this determination. ???
Shelley
I think we should keep it to the Movies, no TV(Television, I mean). And go with:
Islands in The Stream
Well I feel so special all the sudden. Like I'm the ref reviewing the instant reply.
Cassie is correct. It should be movies. Made for TV moives only count in absolute desparation. George C Scott does not fall into that category. So, Islands in the Stream it is.
David Hemmings is our next actor
You've always been nothing but special in my eyes Brenda.
I'm going with the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Shelley
I know it's too easy but the list of movies is so great.
Sean Connery
Have to go Highlander
Shelley
Aeiiiiiiii-die vermin-scum!!!!
No, that's not right? Hmmmm?
Uh-e-yuh, uh-e-yuh-yuh, da,da,da, do,do,do, something just like that.
Tar-zan!!!!!
Then it's the lovely Andie McDowell from me.
Shelley
Well the star of this movie was obviously, Punxsutawney Phil, but since he only has a once a year resume I'll have to go with Chris Elliott.
Are you kidding me?
Who was in that mess?
Andy Richter?
Okay, lets get psyched.
Bob Newhart
Brenda must love you. You have a flare for the obscure.
Jane (you ignorant s@#t) Curtin.
I must admit I was unaware of Jane Curtain being in Antz. Though I've only seen it once. My son prefers Bugs Life.
Antz does provide a wide variety to pick from, but I'll go with...
Paul Mazursky
Just as an interesting aside Jane Curtain was the voice for Muffy. (My kids watch it over and over.)
Now to History of the World Part One. A very funny movie indeed.
Shelley
Gotta go with Mel Brooks
Blazing Saddles
Dennis
Then it's gotta be the Woman in Red.
Shelley
Wierd Science
Ohhhhh, so many quality 80's movies here. What ta do, what ta do...
Ahhhhhhh, let's go wtih Breakfast Club
Gonna go with Molly Ringwald
Sixteen candles then.
Dennis
:eusa_naughty:
Hang on rule verification. I would think that you can't go back to someone that you have already used.
Am I correct ???
Shelley
Well, assuming you can, I'll take off from Anthony Michael Hall with Six Degrees of Separation.
Dennis
Kelly's Heroes
Just remember you brought this on yourself.
Beach Blanket Bingo
Or as I always say Annette Funny Jello. Just kidding. I love her to death.
We seem to be headed back in time.
Babes In Toyland
QuoteThat wasn't stated specifically in the rules.
Hey are the rules written down somwhere. :-\
Oh well given the time of year I think I'll have to go with "Miracle on 34th Street".
Shelley
How about Rebel Without a Cause,
Shelley
Get down get funky with that crazy beat.
James Dean
Giant
Shelley
Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf
George Segal
Shelley
Dianne Baker
Shelley
The Silence of The Lambs
Meet Mr. Black
The Saint
The movie actually Meet Joe Black, my bad.
The Doors
The flintstones
Shelley
Monsters Inc.
Does it show that I have young children?
Shelley
Armageddon.
Anybody heard the news reader trying to tell the Armageddon story with the gerbal.
Shelley
Die Hard with a Vengence.
And your right Brad Pitt was not in the Saint. I often get him and Val Kilmer confused.
But too late now! :icon_evil_laugh:
How about Sharon Washington
Shelley
Topic got too big so I split it please continue on to Movie Game the Sqeuel! (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php?topic=1480.msg) This thread is now locked.
