So there I was...minding my own business, emailing a friend about our upcoming shopping trip in Seattle....and I felt she should know (because she "still presented as a guy") that I will be wearing women's clothes. She said, "Well I expected that, since you're full time."
??? Wut? Full time?! Not me...I just am Beth at work, I have the court order changing my first, middle, last name, I threw out, converted or donated ALL my guy clothes, wear makeup "as a matter-of-course", have changed all my bills to Beth, caller ID is Beth, and everyone knows about me being MTF...
Wait a minute.
Maybe I am full-time? Never gave that a thought. I just did what was comfortable and needed, and now...ok, I'm full-time.
LOL...just wanted to share how this can sneak up on a person.

Btw, the shopping trip (a "preview" of the Seattle GTG, friends going out to check out the town) was a HUGE success! Got a skirt, shawl/drapie thing for over the shoulders, a bracelet, and LOTS of ideas for outfits.
The Capital Hill area is awesome.
Looking forward to more outings!

LOL...yup, yup...but I never saw my life and situation as "part time", "full time", etc...I was (and still am) just "me." I live how I'm comfortable, labels be damned.

That made me giggle. My FT status kind of hit me like a happy train, vs sneaking up on me. One day I was talking w/HR about coming out at work in a couple of months, and an hour later I get a call from HR saying, would you like to come out tomorrow? We could do a meeting in the corporate boardroom! So I did, and that was the last day of the old me.

Hee, that's really cute. Glad your shopping trip was such a success. :) And I know the feeling. I didn't actually know there was a distinction there to begin with. I just assumed that everyone jumped straight into their new life as soon as they came out, and didn't really stop to think that there would probably be many reasons that someone wouldn't go full time straightaway. So I set everything in motion within about the first two weeks after I came out. It was only six or seven months later that I realised that I was technically full time, and that that was actually something fairly unusual at my point in transition.
I am getting there myself, Beth. Last year I realized that I am full time on the inside. Now I am getting full time on the outside. Already am. It's just that some people can't use my right name (which is official now) or pronouns. I must have patience for the ignorant ones (the onesI work with) to catch on.
