Title: Marriage
Post by: Darrin Scott on July 18, 2012, 04:04:00 PM
Does anyone here know about what you need to do to get married after transition? My girlfriend and I are looking to get married legally in the state of Florida I'm currently 5 months on T and am planning a legal name/gender change in a few months. We also plan on getting my top surgery before we wed as well. Has anyone else done this? If so, what kind-of hoops did you have to jump through? Thanks.

As long as your ID's gender marker says "M", you're good. (I'm in Pensacola)

Darrin, it depends on where you intend to get married.  For instance, here in Australia, you can't legally marry your female partner unless you can produce a male birth certificate.

Yeah, I looked at some websites and it looks like in the state of Florida I need to produce 2 forms of ID. A passport and a drivers license and I can get married. I just wanted to make sure and ask if anyone has experience. We plan on marrying in Florida.

Hey! we didn't have to show 2 forms of ID. I showed only my passport.

Really? Hmm. I thought I saw online I had to show a drivers license and another form of ID like a passport? That''s good to know!

No I certainly didn't have to. I changed my name on my PP but not yet on my DL so I only showed my PP.
