Title: hey :) new here
Post by: JulianDMellark on July 19, 2012, 03:06:30 AM
Hey there guys, just wanted to introduce myself...my name is Julian. Im pre op but, i had my first T shot last week. I've been stalking this site for a while :P and i have to say you guys are looking fabulous. I have also stalked the MtF forums as well, my girlfriend is 3 years post op and its great to see such lovely ladies :P so anyways enough of the formalities, i just wanted to ask a little question; for anyone who is currently on T or have been approved still have their mothers calling you "she" "daughter" "and good girl"? I have told my mother over and over again, but there is no listening with her, she is still convinced i'm going to pop back and wear a dress. Its been 17 years since i've even touched a dress. any tips on how to  make her stop????

oh and again, hey guys :)

Hi Julian,

Welcome to the Family.

Sometimes it seems to take forever to get family to get the pronouns right.

I found a way around it. I don't care. Bugs the life out of people. Once you demonstrate you don't need there acceptance, people accept.

Hugs Brother

Cindy

Hi Julian, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 7565  strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmileys.on-my-web.com%2Frepository%2FAnimals%2Fferret-3.gif&hash=f49e2f86761323f2abd9c33941920389dbb3b10f)

my mom still call me she even when I got out of the closet years back, and I been on T for over a year.

I guess it really all in the correction, My mom has used to call me my my guy name, and she also called me "son" a few times over the phone speaking to strangers..

but the "she" is manly a habit word, I blame myself on not having corrected her enough cause im kinda shy.

I hate correcting my family because it usually makes them defensive. To my face my sister calls me he and my new name but there's been so many times on the phone I've heard her shout to her husband "hey *birthname* is on the phone and SHE wants to know blah blah"

I'm like -_- why do you do that, and she always gives the excuse of "well that's what he knows you as"

The only thing I can suggest is be diligent. It's taken me 4 years to get her to come around to using he and my new name in my presence...but it's progress at least xD

I figure eventually I will look nothing like the girl they still see me as, so the name and pronouns will have to give at some point, or they'll look like idiots referring to me as a girl.
