Bornstein's frank, funny memoir will break your heart and tickle your ribs

Kate Bornstein isn't uncivilized, but a significant group of people have labeled her a "potential trouble source." In A Queer and Pleasant Danger, she explains how she got to be so hazardous.
At age 4, while most kids are learning their ABCs, Albert Bornstein was preoccupied with something else: He knew that he wasn't a boy, so figured he must be a girl. He also knew that that wasn't something people wanted to hear, so he kept his secret; instead, he grew up wanting to be Audrey Hepburn.

LOL me too.
I chose Audrey Hepburn because I knew Pippi Longstalking was a fictional character and I didn't want to be one of those if I could help it. And I liked the idea that Audrey could change from a common guttersnipe to a duchess at an embassy ball, and that when Audrey needed to sing, she could open her mouth and Julie Andrews voice would come out. "Just you wait, Enry Iggins!"

For me it was Dianna Rigg, Mrs Peele was beautiful, smart and could take care of herself (and Steed) when needed...
