BARBARIAN!!!
They're the only shoes I've worn for a couple of decades. The only ones my feet like.
Oxfords. Ankle boots. Vibram soles. Comfortable. www.rockport.com (http://www.rockport.com)
P.S. At least, they used to be Vibram. I'm not so sure anymore.
I will say, Rockports are very comfortable shoes.
God, I just have a pair of old work boots and tennies. Must go shoe shopping!
I have one pair of 'male' shoes and at least 40+ my shoes. Shoe shopping is a must
I reckon it's a therapist question; do you like shoe shopping on a daily basis? Yes = female, No = male
Sorry Guys

I am willing to bet you could put Imelda Marcos to shame.
Boots are utilitarian and so very andro.
I love boots, I was buying another pair today :embarrassed: 2" heels for work. I need the heels so I can reach the high shelves, so maybe I can claim them as a tax deduction?
It didn't help when the shop manageress asked me how I'd been, had noticed I didn't call in last weekend and will have new stock arriving during the week. Do you think she suspects something?

Haha! Actually, it's Yes=doesn't wear Doc Martens, No=wears Doc Martens. My last pair took about four years to wear out and I walk everywhere.

Interestingly enough, lots of "female" doc martens look identical to "male" doc martens.

That's true Edge. In those 1914's I showed in the opening post, I think the only difference is the interior lining and the laces. The upper is designed to be optionally worn folded down with the lining shown.
Yours lasted four years? Everyday use? If so, that's a great value.

Not everyday. In the summer, I wear sandals a lot of the time and on some days, I'd wear my pirate boots. Still, it's a great value. My pirate boots lasted only a few months with the even less use.
The only problems with Docs is breaking them in. Good god the blisters! They ought to come up with a pair with softened/broken in leather. I'd buy those up.

You folks here, have 'reminded' me, of Doc Martens, again. I have always loved the look, but, way back, when I first noticed them, I was still 'suppressing' who I was, so I felt I couldn't buy them. As a strange coincidence, it was just three days ago, that I gave myself 'permission', to go ahead and buy some 'male' type shoes/boots - then, I see this post - Doc Martens, of course! (except, if I remember correctly, they run 'wide' - and I have very narrow feet :( ). Anyway, I am definitely, going to check them out - now I am excited! Thanks, all! JinJan.

THEY'RE MINE!!
Actually, the pair I showed were 50% off, but they did not have my size. I wear a US women's 12 or 13.
When I first saw the thread title I thought it was going to be Fluevogs. That's what I want.
In shoe shopiing as in many things, I am on both sides of the stereotype. I always want more shoes, but I balk at price and often think "I have enough." Not always though.
I have black Harley Davidson boots with chrome skulls, brown boots with a bit of furry lining peeking over the top, serious snow boots, an old pair of comfy New Balance walking shoes that could be replaced, grass-stained tennis shoes for yard work, purple Osiris skate shoes that are honestly a bit too small but sometimes I wear them anyway, hiking sandals, and 3 pairs of Vibram FiveFingers. (My favorite of those is the kangaroo leather KSO Trek.)
But I still want Fluevogs, and maybe something else a bit more daringly androgynous-looking.
I finally got some Doc Martens! They aren't exactly what I was wanting - I wanted the 1460's, in a beautiful dark purple, but they didn't have my size - so, instead of doing the 'wise' thing, and waiting to be 'notified', when the purple ones came in, I did the only thing I could think of - buy the ones that are 'blueberry', in color - and then also, buy the ones in purple, when they come in - right? Money - what's that? LOL
As for them being too wide for my (also) AA feet, I added a more cushy insole, and that seems to do the trick! Man, they are gorgeous! So, the beautiful color, lets me feel female, but the boot style, lets me feel male - perfect! I wish I could show you the color! Love, love, love my Docs! JinJan.
I'm jealous. :(
Do they look like this?

YES, YES, YES!!! You are truly amazing, with your 'techie' abilities, JamieD! Thank you! Pretty sweet, huh? What was surprising, was how comfortable they are - they advertise something about 'walking on air' insoles, and I guess they are right! JinJan.
"Purple Shimmer" was sweet, too.
I still have my heart set on the 1914s.

They're made by Grinders UK and are similar to Doc Martens, but I actually MUCH prefer them having owned both. PLUS this burgundy wash stole my heart like IMMEDIATELY when I saw them! I've had them for years now and adore them!

The laces are too long, hence the balled-up bows. :P Now that I've noticed how awful it looks I'm going to shorten them.

Knee high boots with 2.5" to 4" heels are an addiction. First thing shopping is looking for some.
It really pisses me off to find a pair I like, only to find they don't stock them in my size or don't make them in my size.
It can really ruin my day sometimes.
But it is fun to hang with the ladies in the shoe dept, discussing how different shoes and boots look on each other.
I get some weird looks on occasion, but I like it that most of the woman think more guys (how they see me) should be wearing boots with higher heels.
Although they draw the line at a nice pair of '
come ->-bleeped-<- me' pumps. :)
They just haven't seen me in a skirt, yet. ::)

Ehrmagerd. I have been lusting after a pair of docs for a while. I love those purple ones. LOVE.
My go to fashion is a flow-y skirt with combat boots, but I have wanted to upgrade to a pair of docs for years. I have always kind of loved the style of River Tam from firefly (played by Summer Glau) and I cannot gush enough about Doc Martens.
