According to hospital staff, it's the first It Gets Better video from a hospital anywhere in the Bay Area.

"We regularly see teens who have been harmed simply because of who they are, so it was important to send a message that San Francisco General is a safe place where LGBT people will receive quality health care with compassion and respect," said Kathryn Fowler, nurse manager in the emergency room, who first proposed that the hospital contribute to It Gets Better.

[In the video] Five hospital staffers share personal details about their own struggles as LGBT teens, and many more appear in supporting roles.... Psychiatry resident Nate Sharon, a transgender man, talks about how his family initially rejected him and he was even homeless before he finished medical school and reunited with his family.
