I can't lie on this: Every time I clean the shower I am more afraid of my future. I've tried minoxidil, aminexil, and waiting to receive a bottle of Saw Palmetto.
I was thinking about setting an appointment with my doctor and see If he can prescribe me something like finasteride. The problem will be If he decides to send me first to a dermatologist: It can take between 7 months and two years with social security.
Oh, almost forgot. These things can also be bought Over the counter?
Thanks.
Do you see any balding? Just because you see a lot of hair in the shower doesn't mean you are balding. I have pretty dense hair and I lose about 50-70 strands every time I shampoo (once a week) but I'm not balding at all. Maybe it's just normal shedding.
It's been receding over the years, keeps thinning on its usual patter and I need to cover the sides.
I'm using topical minoxidil for ten years or so. When I started it, I also had a prescription for finasteride (5 mgs tables which were supposed to be divided in quarters). I used both for a while and it seemed my progressing male pattern hair loss came to a halt. After a year I stopped using finasteride due to costs. Minoxidil only was working well, in my view.
This was two or three years before I started HRT.
I had the prescription for the finasteride tablets ("Proscar") from my GP. Minoxidil is an over-the-counter in Germany (Rogaine).
If you can't get prescribed Finasteride in a reasonable time from now, you can always look into Nioxin. It cleans the follicle of any built up chemicals, including DHT.
