Title: So I do indeed have mild AIS
Post by: Shawn Sunshine on August 06, 2012, 01:52:07 PM
My endocronologist confirms I have mild Androgen Insensitvity Syndrome, which is totally fine by me, it explains why i have a micro penis and gynecomastia (actual breast tissue)

It doesnt change the fact that I am a Christian MTF Transgender/Transsexual but it will make it easier for me to feminize my body since I aready have low testosterone and high estrone (but normal estradiol levels)

It is interesting that the incidence of the AR gene has markedly increased in the US, approx 1:300 although NIH places it at 1:20,000. In any case a big increase of 1:3,000,000 worldwide from 40 years ago. By the way, that does not preclude you from also being a mosaic. In any case it's good to know.

Knowledge is power, and as you have a medical diagnosis you can clobber anyone who questions why you are doing things.  "Yes, you are right, God doesn't  make  mistakes!"   :)

Oh yes and I am 100% happy with knowing that I am both intersex and transgender, but would have been just as happy if i was just transgender, I feel good just to know the truth about myself regardless.

Woohoo!  It's good to know.  Also, it sounds like it will make transition easier for you, so double woohoo!

Nathine: I did not know that the AR gene had increased in prevalence.  That's really interesting.  Do they know why it has become more common?

maybe so, but if you accept that God created me, then my mutation was a part of my ancestors which passed the code on to me. And since God created my ancestors, i then was meant to be as I am. There are already species of fish and animals that are intersex or can change sex. This was all designed to be this way.
