So, my therapist is saying I should be ready next month to start T. My question is, does anyone know any endocrinologists near Los Angeles that are not too expensive, or has some experience with transgendered patients? Or even just a general physician that can help me out.
I've searched on here and on google but I can't find any that don't have a huge waiting list. Or they don't accept my insurance. I really have no idea what I'm doing actually. But any help is appreciated, thank you.
Just FYI, there's an informed consent clinic on Santa Monica Blvd., but I don't know the name. And somebody was recently telling me that the gay and lesbian center in LA there does informed consent. If you are interested, check out the center's web site.
What do you consider a huge waiting list? My old endo books about a month in advance, or he did when I last made an appointment about eighteen months ago.
Your insurance provider should probably have as listing of Plan doctors.
You don' actually see a specialist. An experienced trans-friendly general practitioner can prescribe the medications and order the tests too.
@Arch, a month or two is fine. I guess like 3 or more months is kind of too long to wait, but I'll wait anyway if I can't find anything else.
Yeah I checked out the center in LA, they need you to make an appointment to get financially screened first. So I'm going to call tomorrow. I'm still looking on other sites though.
@Jamie D, yeah I know that. But it doesn't say if they're experienced in this sort of thing. So I'd have to call each doctor to ask, I was thinking of doing that anyway. My doctor now didn't want me to transition and she was sort of trying to change my mind about it. She kept telling me I was just a lesbian and didn't know how to be a lesbian basically, and that I wasn't mentally healthy to go through with the transition. If the center in LA can't help me I guess I'll have to go down the long list of doctors then.

I've had a couple of people tell me that I'm a lesbian...except I am gay. One person even seemed to think that because I was transitioning, I was switching teams entirely. Sexually, that is. Talk about irritating stereotypes...and I absolutely hated it when people thought I had it made as a straight female, a "normal" female, and couldn't I be happy with that? Auuuugh.
