Is it true that taking hormones daily for life will decrease your lifespan ?
or would it potentionally increase it as your not getting the negative diseases men encounter with age that are hormone induced ? or is this benefit only experienced by biological men?
i've had averagely healthy relatives, friends, neighbours and colleagues drop dead at all ages from 26 to 64 and others die in unforeseen accidents so I go with the theory that when your time is up you'll die and no-one knows or can do anything about what day your clock will stop ticking so basically it may be that estrogen might work at a deep enough level to make the body work better but there is still no way of knowing what time the clock will stop.
I've read various stories of hermits living in remote mountain caves and eating the most basic diet who claim to be over 100 years old but who wants to live that life?
By the time anyone can start taking estrogen its likely that their clocks have been set and nothing can alter it so eat, drink and be merry carefully and carpe diem.
Unless you can realistically plan to live forever, then longevity probably isn't one's biggest concern - unless you think you'll be the kind of 100-year-old that can actually walk, run, and still appreciate rock and roll.
But even then... stopping HRT is not likely to be worthwhile for that sort of thing. I mean, the masculinizing thing is nasty - you can still pass with surgery and stuff, but there are some things that surgery can't do, and I doubt most elders could safely have surgeries for those things anyway.

Add Lemmy to the equation. If this reduces my stress and anxiety levels, I can take for granted that it will make me live longer.
I will live to the end of my life I guess. Barring accidents 80+ sounds pretty good.
