Everything else I'd be ecstatic about, but the boobs make it very public.
Yes. It is quite difficult to transition from MtF or from FtM without making it public.
One of the reasons we have gender therapists is to guide us through these changes in our life.
In most cases it is the goal of transitioning to present as your true gender as we are 'trying' to match our sex characteristics with our true gender.
I think one of the goals of therapy are to allow you to understand that the physical changes, in my case of a MtF, will let you be seen in public as a female person. If this is a problem I think you really need to have open and in depth discussion with a gender therapist
Wish why?
Low dose HRT is an accepted means for helping a trans person cope. I can vouche for it since I've done it a few times in the past. Mentally/emotionally it heped to "Reset" me, in that the dysphoria was not overwhelming to the point that I was wanting to instantly transition. I guess you can say helped to provide clarity.
Of course, YMMV. After feeling the affects of even low dose HRT, you may decided a little AA cup would be nice.... then an A cup..... then a full A.....
Wondering what a low/ high does HRT is. Would omitting progesterone result in less femanation? Perhaps binding is a possability.
I for one cant wait to have breasts. But from what i understand, they do tend to show up rather slowly. So dont worry, dana, you wont just wake up one morning with DDs. :) And i'm sure there are many ways to hide them, Mulan-style.
Interesting subject. Opposite for me. Uncomfortable about possibility of HRT for a whole bunch of reasons, but I'd really like breasts.

I would associate "high dose" HRT with someone who is trying to transition. "Low dose" HRT is a minimal amount to get only some of the effects of HRT; and I would think someone choosing low dose HRT would not be trying to transition (someone correct me if i'm wrong).
I'm on low dose HRT and it stopped the insanity that was going on in my head, and thank heavens for that. However, when taking HRT there are *some* changes that are inevitable. Those changes are happening to me slowly (i've been on low dose HRT for about two years now) but so far they can be hidden (but it's getting harder to do).
(My girl mode is prompting me to say that she likes the changes caused by low dose HRT ::) )
Couple of things:
a) as someone who only wants to pass some of the time, I regularly strap my chest using very sheer bras one size too small, or tight undershirts....drag kings have been strapping down bigger things than Ive got for a lot longer than i've had 'em!
b) man-boobs are a fact of life for so many people. they don't stick out as much as you might think.
c) weight gain is very important if you don't want boobs. Basically, if you eat a minimal diet, calorie restricted, you don't have much extra fat to redistribute to your chest.
d) or just realize you only get one go around this life. do what makes you happy, and who cares what strangers say?
Either way, give up on the idea of sleeping on your stomach for a few years!

This, its something I didnt fully realize and am still trying to get over. Also, I wear a slightly tighter sports bra and its covers them up pretty well.
