Title: Aftershave
Post by: ~RoadToTrista~ on August 23, 2012, 08:01:08 PM
What is it? Just curious, I might as well just try it out myself but all the same I can just ask people experienced with it. Never used anything other than an electric razor before. I asked my parents to buy some shaving stuff while they were at the store and aftershave came with it. Is it bad not to use? Will it make you smell like a guy?

Yes, I used an electric razor but stubble is still obviously there.

It's usually alcohol, moisturizers, and a fragrance. Because of the alcohol, it usually stings when you apply it.

Mmm, I'm just gonna throw it into the sink cupboard and forget about it then.

Hi Trista,

Way back when I was in my teens & starting to shave I used an electric razor that scruffed & chafed my skin, left it dry & never got a close shave with my coarse beard. I went to a blade razor and since the sixties have used a Gillette AtraPlus Trac II (2 blades) razor. I get a real close shave that leaves my skin smooth. You should try it. You do require an after shave to moisturize your skin and ease razor burn. I never used an after shave with alcohol that stings. There are creams or lotions out there. For a few years now I have been using Nivea for Men Sensitive post or after shave sensitive balm. No alcohol. It has Chamomile, Vitamin E & Provitamin B5. Very smooth, refreshing with only a slight but nice fragrance. I live in Canada & I think it is about $7 for the 3.3 oz bottle, just put on a small amount & the bottle lasts a long time. In the US it is available at Walmart, Target & Walgreens. Perhaps at your local pharmacy which is where I get mine. Here is a link.

Perhaps you may be interested in trying the razor & after shave & you will have a smooth face.

I didn't think men still used aftershave in 2012? I thought they all used moisturizer? Most aftershaves are alcohol based and will ruin your skin! Don't touch the aftershave! if you want to smell like a female buy some perfume instead!
