A long legal battle came to an end for Fiorella Cava, former rock singer, who after fifteen years managed a court to recognize her as a woman, a case that breaks the mold and challenge the Peruvian society, traditionally conservative and macho.
A judgment of the Superior Court of Lima issued on August 8, sent to oblivion its old name of Sergio Vinicio Cava Goicochea and now legally recognized in law as Cava Vincenza Goicochea Fiorella.
"I am a woman who has gender identity recognized by judges who have dared to issue a fair decision," said Cava in dialogue with AFP this week.
