OK, ladies, I'm hoping you can enlighten me to one of the secrets of the universe.
At this stage I need to wear foundation to hide my beard shadow when I go out in public. I get makeup all over my collar.
How does one try on clothes in a shop while wearing makeup without getting makeup all over them?
Do you set it with powder?
You can also set it with hair spray>

Do you set it with powder?
I tried to. I might not have been doing it right.
Is there a way to tell if it's been set right? If it's set right, does it not rub off on clothes?
I hold my head up high all day long. It's amazing how much slouching men do.
In stores, I am just super-careful to hold the neck of the garment away from my face...better to mess up my 'do than stain the shirt!
Press the powder into the foundation and let it set for a bit. Then dust it off. Spray lightly with hair spray. That should do it.
Also take tissues with you to protect the clothing you are trying on.
A good foundation will not rub off so easily... I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place light foundation. Light movement against your face after this stuff dries will not rub the foundation off! Also you can use a primer underneath the foundation... as you should if you're trying to use it to hide the shadow!

Spray lightly with hair spray.
Sorry hon. But I would strongly advise against using hair spray on the skin.

It's an old crossdressers trick. One could also use Fixing spray.
What about Silica Powder? I hear beauty guru's on YouTube rave about it all the time.
And the simple approach is.....
At least for department stores, is not even do fem. I went a good 40 years picking out womens clothes and going to the mens dressing room, in male mode. Usually hiding the lot by a very large pair of trousers.
In girl mode, yes powder is the key. My biggest problem in girl mode is no different then most others, avoiding lipstick or foundations stains as you pull stuff over over your head. Loosing my hair is a totally different issue :o
Wig tape helps to keep the hair in place.
Also... when taking your shirt off, lift from the bottom hem of the shirt with your arms crossed. This will also keep you from pulling your hair.

Why not have laser treatment and then you won't have to worry about covering up beard growth with make up, or getting make up over shop clothes!
Laser takes time. Maybe she doesn't want to wait for it to get to the level where its acceptable to go out without makeup. There's nothing wrong with that I don't think....
Besides, speaking for me I always wear concealer to at least hide the dark circles under my eyes...
A safe way to do it would be to take along a bandana or a cheap scarf and throw it over your head when you put your head through the garment. I've long done this when my hair is wet, too, to keep from getting the collar wet.

what the heck is a primer? i wear concealer and powder never heard of a primor can you recomend a product?
A primer keeps the foundation from blotting up on your face (especially in humid places). I use Revlon, you can get it at Wal Mart for like 10 dollars.
