Title: Day 10 on HRT and no visible changes
Post by: NotThereYet on August 29, 2012, 12:54:37 PM
Well, it is Day 10 of HRT today, and I have not seen any changes whatsoever (maybe softer skin?). Emotionally and psychologically no changes, as well (I do feel calm and relaxed).
I know that changes are slow, but I have been pondering a bit about when I will finally see something noticeable . For the time being I feel like what I have been taking might as well been sugar pills! :-)

Regards,
Andrea

It's a slow process, you can't rush it either. It takes awhile for the anti-androgens to quash the effects of testosterone in your system. Hopefully you doing this under a doctor's supervision.

Andrea,

It will take a couple of months for changes to be obvious.  Keep a photo diary.  Track measurements.  Note changes in hair, moods, emotions.

Then you can look back and see the changes.

I didn't notice any emotional changes till about 2 weeks. Physical changes, in the form of tender nipples, started at about 4 weeks. I didn't notice visible changes till about 5 months.

It would be difficult to see hardly any change at all until a month in, at least, as far as my experience has told me. Be patient, and enjoy your time... all will happen in the months and years to come, to whatever degree nature decides.

Don't put unrealistic expectations on yourself, its going to take a while before you see visible changes.  This isn't a race, the finish line is your life, it will happen.

Don't fret over this. Think about it. It took years for puberty to make you the way you are now in the first place and what is HRT if not just a second puberty? Changes will come, but not instantaneously.

Trust the process...don't count the days.

Day 10?????  Not week or month 10?

Patience Grasshopper. After a few weeks you may notice some emotional changes. The rest somes slowly. That is the number 1 reason you hear others say to give HRT 2-3 years before rushing into FFS

I dont know if it was the relief of finally starting HRT or if it was the estradiol. But I put the patch on that afternoon, the next morning when I woke up, I felt happy for the first time since I was a little kid, I was smiling without needing a reason to smile. From what i've gathered its diffrent for everyone. give it time.  ;)

Give it time.  It can take *forever*, which I know is frustrating.  If you are still not seeing changes after a month or so, and you are worried that you aren't on the right dosage, consider asking your doctor to check your levels...they should be doing this anyway, and keeping a close eye on you.

The waiting is one of the hardest parts <3

In the interim, you can always find consolation in the fact that the T has been stopped from continuing its insidious work!

Everyone's  results will vary, but most likely you won't see much for changes for the first month and those changes will probably be slight at best  :)  Most likely the more noticeable changes will start showing up around the three month mark and probably become more evident every three months after that

As Ms. Obrien mentioned, keep a photo journal

But for now, relax and give the HRT a chance to work it's magic  :)

Hugs

In my case it took a month or two before anything happened physically, then things started to speed up a lot.
There were emotional changes after about a week though.

As everyone says, give it time.
It'll take at least 6 weeks before your hormone levels start to settle - my endo made me have a blood test at 6 weeks, and then we fiddled with dosages then.
My timeline:
E only (low dose)
Week 1 - slight nipple sensitivity
Week 2-3 - skin less oily
Week 5-6 - some facial softening, flab around waist disappeared (was exercising), tiniest of knots under nipples.

Some emotional changes in the first 6 weeks - I became a little more connected with myself so to speak, but the physical changes in the first 6 weeks were minimal.
