Title: Testicles hurting...
Post by: Serah on September 07, 2012, 12:55:04 AM
So for the last few days my testicles have been hurting a decent amount. Btw I'm 19 days into my hormone replacement, Spiro and estradiol, wondering if this is normal... Btw it isn't like an extreme pain but a decent one like i have possibly been tucking incorrectly but i have been ticking since i was a kid... Someone please explain what could be happening...

Everybody's body is different and how they respond to androgen-blockers and estrogen. I experienced the same thing you describe, which for me corresponded to rapid shrinkage of my own androgen-producing units. The discomfort went away when they arrrived at their new petite format. The change definitely made tucking easier and more comfortable.

Mine were really tender when they were atrophying (love that word) early on in hormones - and I wasn't even tucking. But if it persists, see a doctor, and don't assume it must be transition-related. Best to be safe.

I share the experience, though not presently. I am thankful that this pain is behind me, however these particular parts are still more sensitive and bigger than I would like.

Oh well.

I know exactly what you're talking about.. omg.. oddest pain ever!  For the first month or two I kinda had some paint down there, however by month three it went away and so far hasn't returned.  I'm guessing it is in response to going on AAs.

Didn't have that happen but I went quiet numb down there after a while. I'm even sure I could have handled a swift kick without much pain. About one year post-op I experienced the strangest phantom-pain. It felt just like it used to pre-hrt.

I can't remember if that happened. If it did then it would have been for a short time. Everything seemed pretty uneventful and I had no expectations. Actually, I can't remember anything about starting HRT and I didn't take notes. Much use I am.

Me too, it's called phantom pain. It happens to people who lose a body part, occasionally it feels like it's still there and in pain. A WTF moment to be sure!

Yes, phantom pain for sure. It only happened once though and only lasted fro a few minutes. Very fascinating stuff actually. Check out Phantoms In The Brain by Vilayanur S. Ramachandran if you are interested in that kind of thing. One of my favorite books.

I used to get a tingly sharp pain down there during my first 6 or so months. Was random and painful.

It only happens to me if my dog jumps in my lap the wrong way. Otherwise, I've not had an issue and I stay tucked all the time.

Likely standard issue shrinkage.
However...
Before I was on HRT I had occasional pain in the inguinal canals and my testicles. When I started HRT the pain got worse. Eventually the pain got so bad I has poping opiates like candy.
Eventually I was able to get some diagnostic tests done and after an ultrasound it was determined I had cysts and deformities of the testicles. My doctor agreed with me when I said I wanted them out, so he refered me to a surgeon to have them removed.
However....
The doctor he referd me to said in no uncertain terms and exactly "we do not serve transgender clients in this office." I didn't get that information until the day before my apointment.
It took a number of months to finaly find a Urologist who was willing to do the operation that was also familiar with how to properly do an orchidectomy for a trans woman.
The kick in the teeth above and beyond the pain I was forced to endure for many extra months was that my doctor had refered anouther patient who had the exact same issues as I did who got an orchi with in 2 weeks of his initial diagnosis. So if I was a normal "male" i would have gotten my surgery much sooner. I hate how we are discriminated against.

Anyways....
The reason I brought this up is that if they continue to be in constant unremiting pain that alone is proper medical reason for their removal. Might become a hassle finding a surgeon who will do the job and can do it without messing up a future srs.
(on an aside note, I have had Dr Nguyen in Lake Osswego look at the scar my orchi surgeon left behind and the doc N said that the scar was in a wierd place, and he had never seen such placement of an orchi scar but it would not be an impediment to my future srs and the scar placement was a very good idea. So making sure the surgeon who does any orchi for you knows how to properly place the incision is a good plan.)

That's extremely rude treatment, what a sorry excuse of an MD and someone who had taken the hippocratic oath!

I experienced something similar from the VA several years ago having pre-cancerous nodes on my gonads ostensibly the result of chemical contamination from Agent Orange, a defoliant used in SE Asia. They balked at removing them because they knew I was TG and I suspect that they assumed that I was working an agenda, they will not do any surgical gender modifications. The endocrinologist recommended that I find someone outside the system. I found a urologist in Portland, Oregon who did it for me for $500 just before he raised his rates to $700. Guess it's a lot more now. Oh well, we survive and move on don't we?

This is exactly why the ACA bans discrimination against transgender patients, or at least it will until certain politicians have their way and get it repealed.

No pain for me, but I have noticed (and this may be tmi) a significant decrease in ejaculate and experience "blue balls" far more quickly. The pain you're feeling may be something akin to that, and its fairly painful so you have my empathy.

32 days into HRT, btw.

If the pain gets bad do get it checked out.  In my fourth year I developed a severe inflammation in my testicles that constantly hurt like I'd been kicked.  My GP referred me to a Urologist and when I asked him if I could have them removed, he said he would do it no problem.  I don't know what stick had got up the butt of the urologist you saw cynthialee, but that was just plain unprofessional for him to refuse to treat you.

I experienced the same thing.  They're being knocked out of commission.  Celebrate!  It's the first step in the process of transitioning, as once testosterone is out of play, estrogen can easily be sprinkled on top.

Hello  to all.
I had the same pain after 5 days of 2mg of estrofem a day without T blockers. I had to interrupt my hrt. I was wondering if it was normal.
