I've been through the Lagoon into star forming regions. I've seen Einstein's cross, nearly two billion light years distant. I've crossed double stars burning gold, silver, and blue. Dim carbon stars shining red like burning rubies. Nebulae in our own galaxy along with globular clusters of millions of stars. I've traveled to thousands of galaxies, both near and far. Yes, I've been there, in spirit as looked through the eyepiece. No, I don't keep my feet on the ground. ;)

I'm now calculating whether my lol'ing is going to creep out the homeless people who sleep by the freeway, and if that's a good thing or a bad thing if so.

It's really not that interesting. I was hitchhiking and got stuck in El Paso, then caught a ride with this old hippy burnout dude who kept taking "scenic routes" and repeatedly ending up in stupid places. At some point we left Texas and entered Mexico, and we got a few miles in before we noticed how odd the street signs were. So we turned around and went back to Texas.
The guy was more interesting than my travels - he thought he'd been deputized by Martians, and he was waiting for their return. He said that when they colonized Earth they were going to use a raygun on him that would send him to the past, to an era of his choosing. He was kinda nuts. He said he was discharged from the army because, in his words, "they think I'm crazy."
Well I've been around a few places. USA, mainly West coast, San Fran, LA, Phoenix, East coast Pennsylvania, NY. Pacific: Hawaii.
UK, All over from top to bottom and side to side. Scotland & Wales all over, Eire, all over. Northern Ireland, all over. Europe: France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland. Yugoslavia (as was then). Asia: Vietnam, Laos, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore. Australia: All over, been around the outside twice and across the inside from North-South and East-West. Tasmania, (and they let me out). Kangaroo Island.
And I have to admit that I really don't like travelling ::)

She must have an affinity for mutton.
NZ bagging Jamie? Spoken like a true-blue Aussie!
In Australia practically everywhere in Victoria several times, Adelaide and the Riverlnd in SA, NSW Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast several times, and so far about half of Tasmania. It's small but there is a lot to see. And we even let South Australians out. ;)
Fiji twice, Singapore, The UK all over fro several months, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France.
Hopefully back to France for study in the next year or so, NZ, Canada, parts of the USA inhabited by Susanites, and Japan.

Actually never tasted mutton, though I was born in the year of it. I was thinking more for the gorgeous scenery and The Shire :P

What about the spiders!! Oh, and all the poisonous fish?
We use them as bait to catch the crocs to make hand bags out of.

Just watch out for the drop bears, only Tasmanians are safe as they have evolved two heads and no brains.
[I would like to empathise that no Tasmanians were hurt in making this remark; I cannot vouch on the health of South Australians in any reply]

Cindy
And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made...
Up on the Blue Ridge Mountains, there Ill take my stand.
A rifle on my shoulder, six shooter in my hand;
Oh lord, I been all around this world.
I haven't been to Antarctica. I'm iffy on the McMurdo vacation however.
Been just about everywhere west of Chicago. Hiked most of Cali on the Pacific Crest Trail, and done San Diego to Seattle on Hwy 1 - the PCH (though not all on the same trip). Spent some time in Memphis/Mississippi, and traveled through the South. Been to New England, mostly passing through, but New York is a trip. Mexico a couple of times, Central America during the Reagan years. Spend a weekend in Jamaica with some crew guys, I almost remember it. Done the Continental Tour a few times, and I love Paris and Southern France, and dropping acid at Pompeii was easily one of the best days I've ever had (not that anyone should do that, it's bad, so don't). I loved Japan, more than another place it's almost like its not even on this planet or inhabited by any humans that I had ever met - and I mean that in every good way possible. Been around the Mideast except for Israel, both Egypt and Petra are worth seeing before you die.
Spent a week in Kenya (looking for our president), and that was pretty cool. Nairobi however...
I've also been to the Philippines and New Guinea and both Jakarta and Manila (along with Mexico City beyond the tourist parts) and if you want something to really rock your world, go to the Third World and see how most of the people on this planet really live. It will shake you to your core and cut way, way back on your bitching about how hard your life is.
The Best (in no order)
-Giza, Egypt
-Pompeii
-Lake Tahoe area
-Hawaii
-Pacific Coast Highway, California - particularly the Lost Coast
-Rocky Mountains
-Death Valley
-Midtown Manhattan to the Village, about as much fun/art/entertainment/shopping/bars/whatever as any place on the planet.
-Istanbul, I just loved it.
