Title: A new hairline growing in from hrt?
Post by: violetdancer94 on September 12, 2012, 09:07:09 PM
So when I started hrt I noticed I was growing in a new hairline. Even though it's growing VERY slowly I'm growing a thick pattern of hair in a very rounded feminine shape. I unfortunately got my dad's side of the family's hairline which is higher than I'd like. When I look in the light I can see these small hairs growing in in thick clusters. This is also happening to the back of my hairline at the nape of my neck.

I never had the hairs before hrt and I am absolutely sure it is because of the hormones.
The reason I'm asking/stating this is to see if anyone else has experienced this and can maybe share some information?

Also I started hrt very young if this helps either.

There is a chemical in some shampoo and conditioner that can stimulate hair growth it is called Polysorbate 60 (although this chemical was never approved as a hair growth chemical it apparently does cause hair growth). Check the ingredient list on your shampoo bottle.

If you are on  a T-suppressant then you are probably not producing Dihydrotestosterone any more. This is the main culprit in hair loss on the scalp. Without it poisining your hair roots the hair can now grow again.

Yea, in my experience as well the myth that you will not have any hair regrowth is false.  Even if its a hair follicle that existed still but was too weak to regrow, the fact that it is growing strong now is still hair I did not have before!

Of course depending on age, and how badly damaged your hair line is I doubt we will all see the same results.

I am also not expecting it to last 10 years, but something now to enjoy while I still have it is worth every drop of estradiol ^.^

I expect that the 'myth' exists to prevent law suits if promised hair fails to show up - or at least downplay expectations that could damage a fragile mental health balance.

Far, far better to have an unexpected hair bonus. Almost everyone I know has had some form of hair regrowth and some of it has been quite spectacular.

Perhaps, but the myth did the exact opposite to me.  It kinda had me on edge as to WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WHEN I GO FULL TIME.  Because on one level I don't mind wigs, but on another level I want my natural hair.

This litigious world sucks sometimes!  But I have to admit I was happy to, people told me to wait it would grow back and im like nooo -points to bald spots making manly V- This izz oogggleh!!! whyy meeee xD

Same with the body hair myth, it does indeed thin and much of it falls out(not all but most)  but all the research I had done including the pamphlet on HRT I got from the health clinic led me to believe I was doomed to full body electrolysis.

Yes, my hairline improved and I lost the thinning in the back.  Sometimes I wonder if my hairline is continuing to improve after being on hormones since about 1999-2000 but it may be that my hairline receded from FFS and is coming back.  I have no idea.

There are lots of things you can do to regrow hair including Finisteride, Minoxidil, Retin A, needle rolling, red light, scalp massage or brushing.  Probably some other things too, I know there are shampoos that contain stuff that is supposed to regrow hair, things besides the polysorbate 60 already mentioned.

I never experienced any male pattern hair loss and my hairline was fine to begin with but yes, hrt is causing the shape of my hairline to change. I noticed about 6 months in and thought "naaaa I'm imagining it" but all the little whispy hairs are now growing longer and have pigment. I also experienced a noticeable decrease in facial hair that can't possibly be from electro cause it's in areas I haven't had work on yet. My beard never fully grew in though, and I come from a very hairless family.

Before I started HRT. My hairline was pretty good for the most part. I had two little Vs on each side of my head where my hair line went back a little further. The one side has completely grown in. You can't tell anymore and the other side is getting closer.
