Title: Is there any surgery or fix for really sunken/hollow/receded eyes?
Post by: Apples Mk.II on September 15, 2012, 10:38:13 AM
Thinking about myself, my worst problem seems to be the combination of the protruding brow, dark circles and.. I mistook the term the previous times, but it the correct term would be "sunken eyes" They are so inside my skull that under most light sources the shadows make me look as if I had two black holes, and you can't even see the normal contour of the eye. Not to mention a lot of skin on the eyelids, as if they were empty. In fact, accessing my eyes was so hard that I could not use contact lenses. Something similar to this, but kinda worse...

Then I find this:

QuoteFat transfers have been utilized for more than 100 years to fill in facial blemishes such as hollowed cheeks, sunken eyes or indented scars.

What I wonder is: How can the fat make the eyes come back to the front? Or is it a cosmetical fix to improve the appearance?

Too many years of absolutely not caring for my body and more than 20 years with glasses from morning to night... Another family member also ended with the same aspect after starting with the glasses (or so they told me), but of course, she does not have a male brow...

A brow reduction could help, by reducing the overshadow of the brow.

On a second though, It might also be a problem of the combined brow and gigantic nose. The last one is so big and wide that sometimes I wonder if I had jewish ancestors (yeah, suck stereotyped racism...). Reducing those two things and lifting the brows a bit could balance the face.

I think the term is "blepheroplasty"? I'm not sure.

You can always ask to have fat injected around your eyes. Provided it's your own, I don't see the hassle.

Nope, that's for removing excess skin on the eyelids and ,on FFS blepharoplasty, shaping them too (I think). I had a free surgery consultation a few months ago and from the review, it would be a good improvement for me, since one of them is already saggier than the other giving me a weird look if my face gets relaxed and one of the eyes appears more closed than the other. I was going to have it corrected, but now I will wait to do it with the rest.

Better beware...fatgrafts around the eyes can turn out lumpy especially because bodyfatcells are bigger than facial fatcells.

There is a technique called "ocular inversion."

The results are sometime dicey.

Great. Now we can have Marty Feldman impersonators instead of Elvis and Jacko ones!

Makeup does wonders for sunken or shadowed eyes. It doesn't help the brow much (though growing hair into bangs will help). But making the upper and lower lids and under brow area lighter than the surrounding face will make them "pop" out without the Marty Feldman look. I do it every day, but especially when I haven't been sleeping.
