Title: How do I come across? [gender wise]
Post by: VoicesOfTheWind on September 18, 2012, 07:46:43 PM
Hey, my name is Alex and I really have no set gender. I am physically female and do not plan on physically transitioning. However, I love to play with my appearence and aim for a gender nuetral/androgynous look.

However, I seem to get read as both male AND female on the streets....I enjoy the fluidity of my gender and wouldn't change it for the world. I'm just wondering, how well I pull it off?

Thanks :)

Well first off...you're HOT.  ;)

You present (to me) as either a girlie-boy, or a boyish-girl. Right on that fine, yet fuzzy edge of androgynous imho.

Yeah - Based on the photo alone, I would have a difficult time determining your gender.

Andro, but it depending on how you were standing, how old you are, and where I saw you I may change and say either male or female.

Well, that picture read as male to me, but in general you look pretty cute, so your presentation is probably ambiguous enough for your tastes.

I'm seeing "hot boy" :), but to be honest a lot of it is the teeshirt. Otherwise, I'd be less sure. About the boy part, not the hot part. I like your hair.

Difficult to tell, you're definitely doing the whole androgynous look very well, I'd have a hard time guessing! You look like either a school-age boy kind of punk style or possibly a more masculine female, but as a girl I'd guess your age as older than I would as a boy.

Going with young and boyish.  Note, the ish, if you asked me male or female, I wouldnt have a clue from your face alone.

Split-second first impression was actually boy.  I'm into women but definitely prefer the boyish or andro variety.  I'd kill for a girlfriend like you!

I think most people that don't know anything about gender variations would say you look more like a boy, although i can see some feminine features and i was right. You're doing a good job though i don't think you are doing a good job

Your facial expressions and overall demeanor will determine how you're being gendered.

So in this pic you look more like a guy because you don't smile and you're slouching.

You're very gorgeous!
At a first look I thought you were male, even looking at your avatar I wasn't sure if you were an androgynous boy or girl. :)

Just looking at the picture I would also say a very good looking young boy.  But there is no context to a photo.  If you really are very young I would have some difficulty knowing for sure.  If I could determine you are older then I would likely read you as a female.
