Title: Hey everyone! and Intro to your truly: Ada Marie
Post by: Adamarie on September 18, 2012, 08:29:54 PM
Hello!

The Facts:
I'm 24 years old
I've been takin estrogen for just over a year
I had GRS with Marci Bowers 6 days ago  ;D
I live in Portland OR (and LOVE it)
I am pansexual (no other way to put it, I'll do anything with anyone who I like and who likes me back, gender is not a significant factor for my attraction)
I am currently with a boy (also trans) and although it's complicated, I love him deeply

So yes, basically, I love my life but am currently reveling in the most tremendous joy I've ever known having finally had the opportunity to get GRS and transition all in one year on this little planet! I'm the luckiest girl in the world!

I have always bitched and moaned about how there aren't "young" or youth oriented "hip" resources for trans women out there and about how I know a bazillion trans guys in PDX and beyond but only a handful of sisters so I figured it is time to join this (seemingly) wonderful community and be a part of the internet side of our beautiful and growing trans network/community.

A few fun facts before I wrap up! I am pretty queer although I identify simply as female. I've spent a lot of my life confused, self hating, not knowing how to love myself. Becoming an active member in PDXs queer circuit blew open my world to new possibilities and bodies and saved my life. I used to wear "women's" clothes a lot (mostly when drunk) and eventually found a partner who totally celebrated that. I began doing drag (which I still enjoy doing occasionally as I've found an incredible home and family in the queer/drag performance scene up here) and eventually identified as genderqueer. I started studying Women, Gender, and Sexualities at PSU and became a strong feminist and queer activist in the community. I still cary these identities but have begun to focus on my own life and personal activisms as I work daily to honor my true, authentic self who I've let fall so far away from me in my past. As a genderqueer person I experienced what I imagine to be the worst hate and discrimination I have and will ever (let's hope) face directly. The hurtful and terrifying attention I received daily forced me to become stronger and love myself harder until I finally began to understand the deeper, more gentle, atrophying parts of my self that I had never loved or given a home to. Ultimately I gave up my mild resistance to transitioning and came out. I found an INCREDIBLE therapist (Shane Hill of Santa Cruz, CA) and jumped in the fast lane to get where I am now. I have a long life to live and a lot of growth and change to come but I'm remarkably, blissfully satisfied with who I am at this moment and can't wait for the future. Life has never felt so unquestionably right.

I am a happy girl and very positive and open so I look forward to connecting with any and all of you lovely folks out there. Thanks in advance for your welcome!

In community,
Ada

Hi Ada Marie, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 8306 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.  And greetings from another Portlander.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmileys.on-my-web.com%2Frepository%2FAnimals%2Fferret-3.gif&hash=f49e2f86761323f2abd9c33941920389dbb3b10f)
