The Scenario.
You are walking along the shores of a lake at lunchtime and you see a lawyer and an IRS agent both drowning in the lake. You are a Red Cross certified lifeguard but you will only be able to save one, not both.
The Ethics Question.
Do you eat a sandwich or read a book?
Beverly
Hmm.. A good book'd take me fancy.
But first I suppose there is some getting wet involved in this ethics, and I'm not going to get my book wet. So... Slowly put the book aside, and then slowly untie my shoes.. Slowly undress.. Check where the drowning bugger are.. Can't see em anymore. Hell; they must've gotten away. Aw, well. Back to me readin.'
Nah, I'd save em. Because they're people. And I suppose the aren't waving signs about that tell us of their occupation, in any case.
Hmmm, save the IRS agent and you have somebody on the inside who is on your side. Save the lawyer and you have somebody who can help you out legally. Really though, as long as a lawyer isn't going after you, they generally seem ok. Now on the other hand, if it were my ex's divorce lawyer... >:D There's got to be some nice softball sized rocks around here. >:D >:D >:D
Are you allowed to eat your sandwich while reading your book, as long has you don't mess up the pages?
