A transgender accused pleaded guilty Monday to the second-degree murder of a Vancouver man.
At the time of the arrest in June 2010, police identified Thomas Forster as a male accused in the slaying of 21-year-old Zachary Waller.
But when Forster appeared in B.C. Supreme Court Monday by a video link from prison to enter the guilty plea, counsel referred to the accused as Ms. Forster.
Outside court, the Crown would only say that Forster is a "pre-operative transgendered male to female."
Forster's sentencing hearing has been set for two days, Oct. 11 and 12.
Second-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 years of parole ineligibility.
