Transgendered January Marie Lapuz has been identified as the person stabbed to death in New Westminster last week.

Lapuz was a volunteer with Sher Vancouver, a support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered South Asians.

Sher founder Alex Sangha, when contacted Thursday, was still in shock about his friend's death. Lapuz had a positive effect on almost everyone she met, he said.
