Title: Here goes everything
Post by: AmberR on October 07, 2012, 10:11:08 AM
So far I have not come out to anybody. I've decided the big day has come. I'm MTF, or hope to be, and my plan is to go down to my doctor's office by myself and firstly come out to him. He's very understanding, nice, and knowledgable so I feel comfortable talking to him. I don't know how it will go from there, but I'm hoping while I'm at school, he'll tell my parents at some point, and I know it'll be tough, my parents will probably be in denial for a bit, but mostly they'll think of me as "weird", and people at school are going to make it tough on me, because I just live in that kind of area.

But the thing is, I KNOW this is what I want, and I can't wait any longer to start. I want to get on hormones etc mostly as soon as possible. My parents and family will know at that point for sure, maybe a few friends, but I'll stay in the closet at school mostly, and over the summer, I'll come back a whole new me, and the old me will have disappeared!

Wish me luck, I hope to go down there soon and I'm kind of nervous

Hi Amber,
We've all been there some of us a lot later in life, but you are certainly not alone in your feelings. You didn't say how old you are, but I get it that you are still at home with the folks. I always like to be positive but I must warn you that the doctor and your parents will probably want to discourage you from taking this route. The first thing will be to get counseling by a reputable gender therapist and based on the outcome of your conversations there you will either get a red light or a green light to continue on with transition. The therapist's comments and findings will carry a lot of weight with your family MD and your parents.

I am pretty much in the same place you are in
I just came out to my parents
and they are trying to find a resonable exscuse why I am trans
to make me not transition
but you have to always remember that we must change to be truly happy
your parents might not like the idea at first
but remember they will always love you no matter what you do
and that what counts at the end

I did say how old I am, however it was removed by a moderator. Lets just say I'm young. Anywho, I'm already spending money on clothes and makeup and whatnot in celebration of my soon-to-be coming out.

And if I'm lucky enough and everything goes to plan, I'll be on HRT for a while this year and keep in the closet at school, but over the 2 month summer I'll come back full time as the real me, the old one will disappear! :D
