Title: New binders designed by Dr Garramone
Post by: harlee on October 08, 2012, 10:37:06 PM
I dont know about you guys, but I just saw this!

Im not sure how well they work but the binders were designed by Dr Garramone. They might be worth a try for anyone looking for a different type of style. I think the material they are made out of looks pretty nice :)

They sound a bit similar to the sport pullovers by Love Boat (except these are full-length), which I've found to work great for me -- needless to say, it has my attention.

Looks to be about the same price, too.

These look great, without the overseas shipping.
I've been looking for something else, thanks.

I just ordered this. I have been very intolerant of binders due to sensory issues (autism) so this looks good for that. I'll do a review.

I just ordered one myself!

I'm really curious about this. If someone who has a larger chest orders one, please write a review. I've been ordering through underworks for 5 years, and it would be nice to find something that compresses as well but is made of more breathable material.

I just received the binder. Since it doesn't actually fit-- and may not ever fit me-- I don't want to give it a review. The company itself-- I'd give them a 5 stars. I got a very kind note back with a couple options.

A couple things: It is a very unusual material, almost a rubbery one with cool outer feel. It has a slight smell like rubber or something. It is not so hot today, so I don't know, but might work nicely on a hot day. I think it would bind VERY well--actually it binds very well. I could wear the binder out as a tank top. It looks very nice and no one would bat an eye as a tank top. I think if it fit me it would be comfortable. It is hard to get off-- but less hard to get on, imo.

Jay, if you don't mind saying, in what way doesn't it fit?  I'm assuming too big if you managed to get it on.  Might be useful to know whether there's a sizing issue or whether it's just the general shape of it.

Not sure. It is actually the right size but fits too tight (for me) under the arms. There comments about this were are too long to go into here (yes they took time to answer), if it is too big a hole many guys get pinched the other way. They gave me a choice of cutting it or stretching it or returning it either for cash or for a bigger size. I opted to see how the bigger size would work.

They are super nice, very helpful. I think it is a great company with a lot of potential to help us.

BTW, this thing would NOT possibly roll up. I think the rubber smell is actually from some rubbery material at the bottom that would keep it straight. Interesting idea.

Too bad international shipping's so expensive - Americans have an obsession with avoiding shipping packages internationally the normal way, it seems.   No problem with ordering from any other country's normal mail service, just the US.  Underworks is the same, but they sell through other dealers - anyone know if these are likely to be available elsewhere?

I just got the large (not sure if this means they run a bit small? I'm guessing not, but I have sensory problems so it is better for me) but I am pretty happy with it. It binds well-- I am not sure I am completely flat in this but then I don't think one should be. No uniboob. I could wear this out in public with nothing else on. I am very happy with it. Smell is a bit odd, which I talked about before.

IF you dont mind me asking. What size cup r u? Would u think it would bind well for larger breast? and I cant remember if you are Pre-T :x Cuz if you aren't then does a large fit for like broader body as if you were on T?

I'm about a 34 C (if that means anything to you). This is sort of "average size" I guess. I am actually wearing a large, which is a size too big. I could actually wear it without a shirt.
I'm pre-T.  I think it would work for a large size (not sure how large). Measure yourself carefully for this. Your broader body is going to be reflected in how you measure, I'd guess. Their customer service is just awesome so if you need help they'd be good about answering.

I'm a 32D. And Pre-T thats why i ask, because the 997 underworks i got a small, its pretty tight but does the job, and stretches out after awhile so i got a tri top in a medium. i kinda wana get this one, but wonders if it holds tight enough for D's x_x but then again my breast tissue is pretty broken down for 7 years of binding. lol want someting comfortable, can breathe, doesnt roll up, and do the job lol

Well I haven't had it long enough to know about stretching out. I am guessing it would just because it is fabric and fabric does that sort of thing. I wish they had some other reviews out there but not yet I think. I am getting use to it, but keep in mind I was not binding.
There's a bit of compression in the stomach. Not sure how I think about this.

Yea the 997 compressed my stomach area and at first it was like ok.. But now that I got the tri top my stomach feels free~ does the dr Garamone one compress ur breast really well?

I didn't like the stomach compression on the 977 but I solved that by just cutting the bottom off.  It seems a little silly to buy something you know you're likely to cut up though, and I don't know how the fabric of Garramone's will stand up to it.

hmm.. looking to get another binder as i only have 1 t-kingdom atm.. do you think that the material of this might make one sweat more when exercising/ in a hot environment, compared to the underworks binders?

I'm really really tempted by this, it is the same material as the binder I currently have which I love, but it's a short one and I've found the longer ones do a better binding job because they pull everything more towards my stomach and it looks less....lumpy  :P

To answer the sweat question: underworks material is much much sweatier than this kind of material.

I can't really compare to underworks. I might have a used one, but it isn't labeled so I have no idea what it is. The used binder I have is VERY hot material. This appears like it could breath. I have worn it when it was 70 degrees with a long sleeve shirt and it wasn't bad. Of course this is not our summer. Not sure I like the concept of compression on the stomach. It doesn't compress as much but I don't know if I like somethign on my stomach like this. It does a very good job of binding, and is not uncomfortable to wear (except maybe not liking this stomach compression).  I think it wouldn't be too bad cutting into. I actually cut under the arms. I don't like that it comes close under my arms. I asked about this. They told me that they had experimented with different openings. If there is too little it hurts and too much it will pinch. They won't honor a guarantee obviously, but it just looks like the kind of thing that wouldn't fray much. But obviously I just got it.

This isn't perfect for me. They told me that they are going to let me test their next model, since I wasn't completely happy. I thought that was pretty cool.

Their customer service seems excellent. I may have to get one the next time I get paid...just wish the international shipping wasn't so expensive

I just ordered one! So stoked on it, I've been wanting to get a new comfortable full tank top binder for a while and finally have the money to get it. I'll add my own review once I get it. Shipping said 2-3 days so hopefully I get it quick.
