This morning i was doing laundry and dropped something on the ground on the other side of a wooden stool. I bent over to pick it up and either I didn't realize how high the stool was or how much my nipple was sticking out. Anyway, my nipple hit the stool really hard. I like yelped out like a wounded dog. Its been about an hour since that happend and my nipple still hurts. Is it possible I did any damage to either it or the forming milk ducts?
You would have to hit it extremely hard to do any damage (I think). I can't imagine they would be able to get damaged so easily. Look at cisgirls. They play sports and stuff while they are developing. I am sure many of them get hit a lot harder than you did.
It sucks though doesn't it?!
As Brook says, unlikely.
Sucks seems a bit indelicate for a nipple if you don't mind the observation.
I'm utterly biased, but I'd say, sorry about the hurt, but change places with you any day.
At the beginning of HRT for me, my nipples became extremely tender. At about 3 weeks HRT, I dropped a USB flash drive into my shirt pocket. It hit my nipple and nearly brought tears to my eyes.
For a while, my nipples were so tender it was distracting me at work. I was afraid someone would walk by my desk, see a middle-aged person clutching my chest be think I was having a heart attack.
Eventually, the sensitivity decreased, but only after months of HRT.
Better get used to it
just wait till they fill out into breasts (assuming your not that far yet?) im still learning to adjust how I do things so im not beating mine up. I knee and elbow myself in the breasts all the time while sleeping, or while im cleaning rooms at work.
Ok, my first reaction is "welcome to womanhood". But I don't want to be crass and unkind. (Heck - I'd be more than happy to give you mine!). But seriously, your glands are pretty well protected. Most of a non-pregnant woman's breast tissue is largely fat, the milk glands are hardly on the radar unless/until she gets pregnant. I can tell you that you will get used to it, but even us bio females can have issues, wait until cold weather hits - I'd advise a spare sweater - that always hurt my nips.
Hurt more than superficially (don't mean it would feel good), probably not. I think they are pretty tough, babies are known to bite them to the point of bleeding. Henry, I feel the same, it is one of those eternal ironies of transdom.

Think about it...we also sleep on them!
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll bump them on several other things over time ;) My biggest enemy was opening a door for quite awhile, I imagine the delivery people have rarely seen anyone so excited to get a package
Luckily mine don't hurt as much or as often as they use to and I've learned to give proper clearance for most things I'm doing but I still manage to bump them on something from time to time :o

A couple of ice cubes in a ziplock baggie with some water should do the trick.
Hit yourself with a car door sometime. Yelp!
Car doors are a doozy.
I can no longer sleep on my tummy, too sore.
Padded bras help in many ways >:-)
crap each time I hurt myself out there I go, nooo and I feel like someone just tried to hit an extremely vital organ.
well it is a vital organ anyways ;)
Thanks to everyone who relieved my fears, gave some good ideas to prevent future hurt, and provided a couple laughs!
So this comment made me remember a really funny story from about 2-3 months into HRT on my part.
I was out drinking for the first time with friends since coming out to my friends, i was at the point of dressing more on the effeminate side, but was not full time yet. One of my friends is talking to me and goes "dude, look, your growing tits!...You going to start dressing the way you intend to soon?". This led to more questions (he is super accepting and supportive of me, as are most of my close friends.), and eventually we are both pretty tipsy and walking back to my place where he and two other friends are going to crash so i can get a ride back to my car in the morning. While we are walking, he asked "So are they sensitive...like, do they hurt?" and i responded by telling him "Only if something brushes up on them or hits them..." at this point, my drunken mind goes "for example" and i say "like this" and hit myself in the chest...followed by me screaming out in pain and collapsing to my knees...
So yeah, i quickly learned that 1. my friends still laugh when someone is in pain, 2. they are all cool with my transition, and 3. dont get drunk and hit your own breast to show that they are sensitive...it is painful as all hell.
Accidentally pinching a nipple was how I found I am a bit kinky. "Ooh, that felt sort of nice.....hmm. Lets try that again!" >:-)
Nothing a good spanking won't fix.
Karen.
Car doors have been mentioned before, and yet I still fail to learn how to coordinate the simple process of opening a door without the associated excruciating agony.
Seriously considering whether I can make, or have made a bra lined with Kevlar
You may well laugh. just remember, what goes around comes around. ;D

Get used to that lol. They can get in the way sometimes.
I've found there are times when they're "do NOT touch" sore, and there are times when they're just a little sore, and are quite happy for gentle massages.
But try to be discreet when massaging...definitely don't moan or suchlike.
Once you're on HRT "nipple cripple" takes on a whole new meaning. Mine can be quite tender, and to date:
1. I no longer sleep on my tummy - YAY! (it's better posturewise for the spine to not be sleeping on the tummy).
2. Running into things chest first is now a bad idea.
3. Kids used to hit me in the chest when rough housing around - can't do that anymore.
4. I was putting up a cabinet the other day and it slipped onto my nipple. Owie...
I do find that massaging them for a bit reduces their sensitivity for a while, but they usually get hit at unexpected times.
Hummmm Definitely sounds like there is a market for Kevlar lined bras.
In fact it would be funny if it wasn't so serious.
Beware and take care

Taking warm showers always helped me when I'd hurt my breasts and/or nipples.
One thing I did after I had my piercings was to bandage my nipples with a little tape and gauze, it seriously helped to keep me from hurting them when they touched anything. That may not be a long term solution, but it might help for when you accidentally whack one.
