So a couple days ago I was with a small group of developmentally disabled people. They were asking about my new name etc. when suddenly one of them (well...all of them) wanted to see my name tag.
The one I'm talking about is known to make jokes...but her level of joke is...well...well, let's just say the simplest things make her laugh. She's a sweetheart.
So, as I was saying my name is Beth (and they all remember my old name), this person wants to see my name tag...she reads it and says, "B-E-T-H. That spells J***!"
I almost corrected her, when I realized she and all the others were laughing at her joke! I felt it was pretty sophisticated of her, and I know it wasn't done maliciously (these people don't have an evil bone in their body)...it was a simple, from-the-heart joke.
I laughed. It was a good day that day. :)
M-O-O-N. That spells Beth.

Beth,
That story is charming, goes straight to your heart.
Jamie
Some people can see the humour in a situation and joke about it without any malicious intent. They are priceless. :)
A joke made out of love is a compliment from the heart.
You are fortunate to be blessed with helping people.
This story warmed my heart, haha!
I used to work for the state caring for developmentally disabled persons. At the time I was presenting as male, albeit feminine, and dressing in boys' clothing. When I first met my guys I could tell I was somewhat of a curiosity for them on top of being a new face, which really is normal for anyone! There was some confusion regarding my gender even by other staff members and of course the guys were catching onto the pronoun mix-ups as well. One of my clients finally couldn't handle it anymore and lifted a finger at me, walked over, and immediately patted my chest. He looked me straight in the eyes and shook his head hard left and right, walked back, and sat down. I was astonished, humoured and embarrassed. It obviously wasn't in sexual context and a behavior report had to be filled out, but I remember it to this day as being remarkably honest!
