Title: Pokemon!
Post by: harmonic_dissonance on October 26, 2012, 06:21:18 PM
I love me some pokemans, y'all.

What're your favourites?  I'm a pretty big fan of Gengar, Absol, and Starmie!

K.... Have to admit... I always loved Evee cause you can evolve her so many ways :D
As far as Nintendo goes tho, I'm a life long Zelda fan... I've been playing Zelda for something like 20 years now. It's essentially the same game every time they release one but, I just love them.

I'm still sitting around waiting to get Black/White 2 and mostly training my EV parties on the previous game.  SO BORING YO.  I think I prefer the cool pokemon over the cute ones.  Pretty big Abra fan if vestigial, useless pokemon count haha... just wish it could've stayed neat looking and not all creepy spoon-wielding beardy guy in the later stage evolutions.

Eevee is pretty useful!  I really like the Espeon evolution.  Also a huge Zelda fan, but I haven't played any after Wind Waker.  Everyone is begging me to play Twilight Princess!

Twilight princess was ok, it seemed quite short to me though. Skyward Sword is a lot of fun though :)

I've been playing Pokémon Crystal lately - my 3DS is currently out of commission. :( My favourite pokemon are probably Noctowl, Aerodactyl, and Stunfisk.

What do you guys think of the new Sixth Gen starters? I'm pretty excited, Fennekin in particular looks really good.

I don't know what I have but, since completing the national dex in Platinum, I can't bring myself to finish Black. I got to the fifth badge and just stopped playing. I'm currently trying to finish FF7 for the second time. The last time I did it, I barely understood english, so I missed a lot of plot details and other stuff. I'll try and come back to black after that.

I have 4 favorite pokémon, Eevee (since I can't choose between its evolutions), Mewtwo, Charmander and Metagross

Ah! Pokemon! Always the popular game. I'm currently playing Pearl (for the third time...) because I've never actually BEATEN IT. D: I've gotten to Palkia three times, but something has always gone horribly wrong and I had to restart the game. (Little cousins playing without my permission, actually defeating Palkia instead of catching it and then saving, you know the story.)

I really loved 2nd Gen Pokemon, and simply for her design I LOVE Misdreavus.

My favorite pokemon are Dragonite and Ninetales.  I plan on getting a Ninetales tattoo somewhere. :3  Though I might get Dragonite or Gyarados....I can't decide!

Anyway...I have a bunch of the games:

- Red
- Yellow
- Blue
- Green [or I had it]
- Silver
- Gold
- Leaf Green [which I desperately need to find!]
- Diamond
- Soul Silver
- Black
- Black 2

I want to get all of the rest, but it's hard to find them. D:  I can't wait for X and Y to come out!

Is the game corrupt, or has the internal battery died? Almost all of my GBC games need new internal batteries, once I turn them off they're reset as if they're brand new copies! I wanted to CRY because of all the work I put into my Gold, Silver, and Crystal games are now all gone. Heartbreaking.

I.. had no idea there was an internal battery in the cartridge  :o I don't have it where I am now so I can't check, but when I tried to load the game it essentially just glitched on me, i think. My Pokemon team, gone forever :'(

Yeah! You need to get a special screwdriver to get the cartridges open, but I think you could find them pretty easy on eBay or Amazon or something. I can't remember what the type of screw is called, though. With the GB/C games, the save files got deleted when the battery died, and on GBA games the internal clock stops working.

I always blamed catching Missingno in my copy of Blue for killing the battery...

Anyway, I just restarted playing White (I got as far as the first badge about a year and a half ago, and then stopped playing video games for a while).  Maybe when (if?) I finish it I'll try to find White 2!
Title: Re: Pokemon!
Post by: Kayla on February 09, 2013, 05:50:19 PM
no, the only games with an internal battery were GSC, and maybe RSE, but I think there is a patch you can load to fix RSE. To fix GSC, just find the screw driver and replace the batter inside the game cartridge. I'm sure there is a youtube tutorial on it somewhere.

And I've been playing since the series began. Murkrow's the kewlist.

OOOoh i looove pokimoons, I played Black 2 a few days ago (eventough im more of a SS and HG fan) but did i hear someone say EV training???  so i am not the only nerd( not in the offending way) that knows about EV's and IV's natures and such :D well gengar might not be on my top 10 of cuties. But he has conquered his spot in my team of 6, he was my first lvl 100 on my SS game ^^

I've played every main title since it first came out when I was six and I can't see that ever changing.  I've been running about five or so nuzlocke challenges throughout the year (I've only completed Heart Gold, three losses total), most are hacked games designed to be more difficult.

Dratini is the absolute cutest Pokemon ever -- even its cry is adorable.  I don't care if Dragonite is exponentially more powerful, I will never evolve a Dratini again.  And I will protect it from the evil fairies.

Misdreavus! It's got a serene gothic elegance thing going on. So beautiful, and yet so deadly. I love it!

Also, Ditto. Because it can shapeshift...

That's a super power I would take in a heartbeat.

"Do you want the power to shapeshift or-"
"YES."
"I didn't tell you what the other one-"
"Doesn't matter!"

And I would use it once, and never look back.

I've always been enamored with paras. it's just so cute~
which is a shame because grass/bug is basically like the worst type combination imaginable. like, holy crap if you sneeze on it it will faint.

i have a fondness for grass-types in general(the only grass starter i never pick is chickorita, otherwise it's all grass all the time excepting nuzlockes), and bulbasaur in specific. also land forme shaymin because flower hedgehog.

aside from grass types, I adore umbreon.

I considered keeping mine unevolved, but I needed a quick revenge killer.

The butt-kicking was uh-mazing!  I managed to beat the entire game without grinding even once, then proceeded to EV train the crap out of my new Volcarona.  I keep forgetting how good Black/White's ending is...I hope X and Y can live up to it.  It's going to be tough, but if anyone can do it, it's Gamefreak.

I find it hilarious that the exclusive Megas for Y (Charizard Y & Mewtwo Y) are frail/feminine compared to the ones for X. Charizard X and Mewtwo X look like they're made of pure testosterone.

I convinced my mother to get me a 3DS with Pokemon X or Y (still deciding) for Christmas, but I am kind of disappointed with what I have read/seen about them. I guess I just need to embrace the changes rather than dismiss the franchise, because I really love Pokemon. Also, I have Pokemon White, if anyone wants my friend code from it. I would be happy to add anyone as a friend for Black/White if you have it.  :)

I have almost captured all the Pokemon available in Pokemon Y and X. The ones I need I either need to trade -- Kingdra, Rhyperior, Slowking, and a few others -- which I can do but I'm wanting to get mine back; Weavile and Gliscor which requires getting Battle Points, and Articuno and Zapdos which I doubt I'll get either as legendaries only seem to trade for other legendaries or Pokemon not available. I got lucky trading for Xerneas, I traded my Sylveon, this was when the game was first out and not many people knew how to get Sylveon.

I also decided to pick up SoulSilver and White 2 so I can collect Pokemon for when Pokemon Bank comes out in Decemeber. I'm now waiting for some screen protectors to arrive though as I managed to bloody scratch the bottom screen :(

Additionally, for those that don't Le Wow is an amazing restaurant for experience and money.

I've been IV breeding this past weekend.  Currently, I have a bunch of five 31IV Fennekin, Chespin, and Mawile, along with an Eevee and Absol with 31 in all six stats.  I think I'll be breeding Vulpix, Electrike, and Houndour next.  More Eevee will come after I get that stupid Egg Hatching O-Power.  It's ridiculous how long it takes to just get half of a batch of those little guys...

Ugh, I don't do all that stuff. I just try to fill up my Pokedex.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a Chespin? I'd be willing to trade another starter. I've got Froakie, Fennekin, Bulbasaur and Torchic. I also need Charmander and Squirtle. I'm also looking to trade for fossil Pokemon, version exclusives, and trade evolutions.

The GTS is completely ridiculous. People either want legendaries, or something that is impossible to get, like a level 9 Venusaur. If you tried that ->-bleeped-<- in real life, I would punch you square in the face.

The fossil Pokemon are actually really easy to get this time around.  Just keep Rock Smashing inside the deepest level of that cave (I can't think of the name, but it's where you first encounter Team Flare).  They have a shockingly high drop rate.

And, believe it or not, I've had much better luck with Wonder Trade than the GTS.  Half the time, I get a perfectly bred, level one, OU tier creature with beneficial egg moves.  The other half is Bidoof.

And, believe it or not, I've had much better luck with Wonder Trade than the GTS.  Half the time, I get a perfectly bred, level one, OU tier creature with beneficial egg moves.  The other half is Bidoof.

So I can get the 6th gen fossils in that cave? I need a Tyrunt...

I don't even care about breeding, egg moves, EV/IV, tiers, or any of that stuff. I'm just trying to fill up my Pokedex.

I can do trade/tradebacks if you need that.

That would be great! You wouldn't happen to have a Kadabra, would you? I don't think that they're in Y. There's so many guys who evolve by trading now, It's a bit hard to keep up. I still haven't caught a Phantump. I found one, but fainted it accidentally.

I recently got back into Pokemon and competitive battling using Showdown! but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy to play casually lol.
My favorites are Blissey, Jigglypuff, Munchlax, Vaporeon, Aegislash, and Jumpluff.

My favorite gen ever was definatly 2! Gold and silver has so much nostalgia, and even today looking back it had my favorite metagame. Yeah it was all stall, but you could beat the best stall team with careful planning and the right set up, and by that I mean Bellydrum Snorlax, ahem.

Although not as hardcore into the topic as quite a few of you, I still love pokemons and when I can, I play with the games on emu - I'm a lil' bit too young and too hungarian to have any GBs from my childhood.  :( Anyway, my favourites would be Flareon, Jigglypuff and Abra.

Gold and Silver were hugely challenging at the end where you have to fight Red...dang, now I think I am going to replay the games and try to have a kickass team.

Pokemon is awesome! I have played every single one of them!! Currently I am sort of playing Y even though I beat the Elite 4 already. In my opinion, this one has been the easiest game yet... :/ I am still trying to catch em all though. I would be willing to do some trades for version exclusive pokemon if anyone wants. :p

Also my favorite pokemon is rayquaza. I just keep transferring my lv 100 one to my newest versions after I beat them. That Rayquaza is awesome. He 1 mans the entire elite four! :D

I did have one, but I traded it for another Kadabra. I can breed one for you if you like.
I can also send you a Haunter, I'm working on that one right now.

it's funny how excited i was to see this topic, i knew i couldn't be the only person around who still loved Pokemon, after all the games keep coming out lol

Back when black/white came out i bought the game and borrowed my brothers 3DS, but i actually went out and bought one specifically for Pokemon X, and i didn't even know you could play dress-up in X/Y until i'd played it. a great surprise  ;D i just wish some of the classier items weren't so expensive.... but i suppose it's just Nintendo's way of preparing me for a future of high prices for pretty things...

anyway my Favourite is Mew... an adorable little legendary psychic kitten.... FEAR the fuzzy plushness!!!

Psst— Lemme show you my pokemans!

Just kidding. I haven't played Pokemon in years. I think the only one I actually finished was Blue, though I got through Gold about half-way through, back when I could only get a copy of the Japanese version. Thankfully I knew enough Japanese to know what was going on.

Hmm... Honestly I'm only familiar with 'em up to 2nd generation so it's hard to say. I always loved Abra. Mewtwo and Ditto are other favorites, for their abilities (Mewtwo being my favorite Super Smash Bros Melee character, too). Favorite "pet": Jolteon. Favorite fighter: Charizard. ...I never ended up getting an Umbrion but I always liked them. ...I almost wrote here Renamon, but that's a digimon.  ::)

(I think the weirdest one I've seen is Rotom, the refridgerator or whatever. What in the world...)

What, the stuff in Lumiose City? I've seen that stuff, it's bull->-bleeped-<-. I'll take the kitzchy stuff from Anistar and Laverre, thank you very much.

Ugh, AGAIN? It seems like we're having to save that place every other week.

It's pretty fun, isn't it? I beat it last week. That ending...

Mewtwo was my favorite 1st gen. pokemon haha! I was so depressed when I found out they took him out of super smash bros for brawl. D:

I need some help.
I've decided on finishing off all the available Pokémon games and I'm starting with FireRed.
I'm stuck on deciding how to build my team, any pros that could help me with it?
So, basically my starter will be Charmander. I'll want to have Alakazam no matter what. Other than these two, I'm open to suggestions. I've been thinking something like Charizard, Vileplume, Alakazam, Vaporeon or Cloyster, Jolteon or Raichu (so either Vaporeon and Raichu or Cloyster and Jolteon). One more slot is open, maybe Dugtrio, Dragonite or Haunter/Gengar?

Also, maybe some advice on how to build them and what moves to get? I don't really understand the EV-system to be honest  :icon_ashamed:

Thanks in advance  :-*

I just went through SoulSilver, HeartGold, Platinum, White, and White 2.

I don't think you need to worry too much about EVs or IVs. EVs can be changed but IVs cannot. It's nice to try and get a decent nature and IVs for the Pokémon you capture, but playing by yourself is easy so it's not required. Playing competitively they are really important, and it's recommend to get good IVs and a nature for legendary Pokémon.

I also don't think its that important to worry about who you want on your team when playing by yourself. I mean, if you're struggling then you'll just grind a few levels. I made my teams around the method of only using Pokémon from that generation and ones that looked cooler, for example, in Platinum I only used the third generation. And I also used Pokémon that were really effective against the Elite 4 and Champion, which I actually steam rolled through so it's not a must.

So to sum up, do whatever you want really.

I would take Cloyster, Jolteon, and Gengar as they're the ones I prefer out of your selection.

Thanks.  :-* I'm planning on going competitive once I finished a few games and got to know the later generations as I'm only familiar with the original Kanto pokemons - and by then I should be familiar with this EV-IV thingie as well.  :eusa_shifty:
As for back to the team, is it really that unimportant in single player? I hoped the late-game would prove challenging.  :-\ By the way I was going that way myself today when thinking about my team, so I think it will be Charizard, Alakazam (until I get a Mew  :icon_love:), Cloyster, Jolteon, Gengar and either Kabutops or Snorlax.

Ah, Pokémon. Basically my childhood summed up in one word lol. Sure I stopped collecting the TCG ever since the sets for the 5th generation came out but I still love me some Pokémons and I'm always excited for the new games!

I started with Pokémon Yellow and since then I've gone through Blue, Silver, Crystal, Sapphire, LeafGreen, Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, Black and I have White 2 but I have yet to play it. Oh, and of course I plan to get X and I've played Colosseum and XD and some other spin-off ones. So yeah, major Pokémon fanboy here who ain't getting tired of it anytime soon!

Oh, and when it comes to favorite Pokémons I do have quite a lot of favorites but my top favs have to be Absol, Articuno, Arceus, Suicune, Latias and Latios.

Omg you're so cute with your baby Gengar ^__^

I always end up having Haunter and no friend to get my Gengar :'( But catching wild Mew with no cheat cartridge makes up for that as Mew is great :) Also a big fan of Zapdos!
