Title: Maybe it's worth mentioning
Post by: Laura Emily on November 01, 2012, 09:23:09 AM
I've recently regained access to my myspace music account. Music for me is really just a hobby, but it's a hobby that has long been neglected - mainly due to school and unresolved issues, along with lack of inspiration. However, I did manage to write all the parts to, and record a song, which I have posted to that website. Anyone is welcome to go by and check it out. Who knows, maybe it'll benefit someone, it did me when I wrote it. Please bear in mind that all parts of the song were written and performed by myself... some parts I wish I could do over but that's where the unresolved issues come in.

LOL, Laura.  I like it.  You need to do more.

Yes, I really would like to, especially if I could sing gender appropriately. Unfortunately, since having wrote that song, everything I've tried to write just sounds like garbage. It's really disheartening.

Hi Laura,

Lyrics express your life experience really well, I like the whole package. That is a driving bass beat which I like. Do you play the drums too, someone else or electronic? I have a friend in Toronto that composes and plays her own songs at open mic or jam sessions in night clubs there.

I notice myspace you list as living in Brampton, but here as Toronto. I lived most of my life in Toronto. We aren't very far apart, for the last 20 years I have been living in Mississauga in the village of Clarkson.

You should get back to recording your music, get enough material that you could do what my friend does.

Cheers

Jamie

Thanks!

The actual bass line? The cool thing about that is I did it on my guitar with an effect in my recording unit which made it sound like I was playing a bass! :D

QuoteDo you play the drums too, someone else or electronic?

I do, I started drums when I was 16, but only played for a couple years, picked them up again recently when I decided to purchase an acoustic set. At the time of that recording though I was using electric drums.

I'd love to do that, just don't think I could.

I used to like right close to Southdown Rd and Lakeshore Rd, but that was in '94. Right now I live in Brampton but I put Toronto here I guess because it's more known. I think I'll just change it. I go to school in Mississauga right now.

I will, when time and inspiration permit, not sure about the live performances though.

Hey Laura,

Small world, since 1991 my wife and & moved to exactly the same area you lived in '94. We are one block north of Lakeshore Rd., the street that runs west from Southdown and the GO station. Our house backs on a field with lots of trees and feels like living in the country.

Unfortunately I am not musical in any way and love drums.

Good luck with your music.
Cheers
Jamie

We actually lived on Brookhurst, though I can't remember where exactly but I used to walk to Clarkson high, and the was a little convenience store just 5 minutes walk east of us.

I know exactly your old street, you were a block north of my street of Bromsgrove, east of the highschool on the south side.
