I was 32 when I started HRT,laser hadn't been invented in 1990 and electrolysis hurt.Don't know how much it cost but I have no doubt it's more expensive today

I started at 21 minus a few days. I did need laser. My 5th, or 6th (not sure) laser treatment is coming up, and while it's much better, it's everything but clear. I think I'll need more than the 7 sessions included in my contract, unless the last sessions are more effective than I expect them to be.

And of course, I'm going to need electrolysis. Part of my beard (I hate so much to put those words together - "my" and "beard" :x) is blond, so of course laser isn't going to do anything to it.

And to be honest, I think I'll have at least the basic centre, between my eyebrows, electro'd as well. So annoying that something grows back nearly daily, and sometimes they're visible yet too short to be caught by tweezers.

HRT 54 (2008)
Laser at the same time.

Ran out of money before it was completed.

Oh, right, you asked how much it was.

My 7-treatment contract (which is normally more or less enough for most people) cost me 2600 $, more or less. But I've been had. You can get the very same contract at around 1000 $, maybe even less, if you shop well. Kelly JP got it at a really, really low price by asking every clinic to beat the previous one's best price.

PS: This is all for the face. If you wanna get your body done, ready the thousands. I think if you can get all that done below 4-5000 $, you shopped very, very well. If you're not careful, I think it can easily be over 10 000 $.

Edit: I just saw from your other post that you're in your teens (*throws more pebbles at the age rule*). Whether you need laser/electro is largely determined by the current status of your facial hair. Does it have the texture of "real beard" yet, or is it still sort of fluffy? The "sort of fluffy" stuff has a decent chance of going away when testosterone stops feeding it. The "real beard" stuff, however, has a good chance of staying.

But you never know. I read of someone as old as 18 whose face had gotten a good amount of "real beard", even though it wasn't fully developed yet, and upon starting HRT, it gradually melted away, and she only needed a few electrolysis zaps here and there for lone hairs.

Currently om laser session #5.. also I'm not sure where you're at but if  Groupon is available you can shop some of the deals that come up there.  Just do your homework before you buy.  I picked up a STELLAR deal on my treatments, basically I will end up with around nine laser sessions for the cost of one! (that is IF i need all of them) but it looks like I'll at least need two more for sure since I had a very thick beard and it's not giving up without a fight.

Can't afford electrolysis right now so I just shave. Luckily my beard hair is blond. 8 months of HRT has done nothing for my body hair so far, so I'm getting worried.

I'm going into my eight session for laser. I got my first six for 250 on a groupon and now I'm at 50 a session.

Transitioned @ 27. im 29 now.

Started laser about 3 months into hrt. Cost? 50$ a session for candella laser. Full face.

About 16 sessions later i just stopped. It was a very full/thick/black beard.

About 6 months ago, after every laser session i would be completely clear, right before the next one i saw very small/fine growth around my upper lip chin and jaw. Laser seems to be ineffective at a full clear, so i just stopped going. Saw same exact regrowth the last 6 months.

I'm so jealous of you all. I should have shopped better. Of course, there isn't a ton of laser clinics here, but I should have shopped a little, instead of stupidly thinking that was the only reputable place because it was the only one with ads and a website...

I'm really regretting blowing all of my savings in this without thinking.

Hi Alexis,

Welcome to the "granny" page.

In answer to your questions. I'd just turned the astonishing 61 (Ta Dar!!) Electrolysis, and just watch that top lip. It's a killer. And it's $50 an hour in the remarkable Land of Oz.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Started HRT at 35, I've had seven sessions of IPL hair removal and I'm down to a few harsh bristles on the upper lip and corners of my chin.

Hi,

Did try for 6 times though was not worth the cost or time & did not work, only $ 300 so stoped,

Paige wait for 2 to 5 years for hair to change, & thatll depend on your age,  thats on H R T, & depends on type & dose rate,

My body has less than 8 % body hair, over a time frame of 8 years, with the help of an epilater,

im 65,  hair is pretty much white, legs  arms  breasts, face is allmost all white, & growth is slower, a few black are all thats left. & i know of other women like myself who have black hair,  because of a hormone imbalaince, , i shave, face & head as i dont have hair up top, & nore wear a wig, just head wear or scarves,

Many women have facial hair & shave so really its not a major issue unless you make it one,

my other point in all this is im intersexed, so my own hormones help as well.

And of course, I'm going to need electrolysis. Part of my beard (I hate so much to put those words together - "my" and "beard" :x) is blond, so of course laser isn't going to do anything to it.

I would just call them the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin instead  :). I used to say "my moustache" as well, but now I just call it my upper lip instead.

I was 35 when I started with laser, and did it for seven sessions, they charged me the male price, but I can't remember how much it was. I started electrolysis a few months into the laser, and did it at the same time, starting with the chin. By the last two times i had changed my name, been on hormones for six or seven months, and didn't have much hair left they could deal with, so they started charging me the female price instead.

The laser seemed to kill most of my dark hairs off after seven goes, but then they started coming back after a three month rest period, and I ordered two more sessions. I haven't had much of a problem with the dark hairs since then. The blond ones are a different story. Most of my facial hair seems to have been blond, and i've been going twice weekly for two-hour sessions since June of last year, $120 for two hours. In this time my upper lip hair has been thinned quite a bit to the point that the individual hairs are easy to spot. My chin hair can be completely cleared in two hours, and the clear patch is gradually getting larger, expanding under my chin and up my jawbones. One of the good things about the blond hairs is that they don't really show up that much when i am growing them for electrolysis. i do tend to shave the areas that are not going to be dealt with in a session, but the clear area gets bigger each time. Very soon all I'll be able to grow is sideburns.

I think in the end it will cost me about $10,000 to get rid of all my facial hair. I wouldn't mind having a smooth hairless body either but i don't think i'll be able to manage the cost. My aim is to be able to kiss without prickling or sandpapering anyone.

I just googled "do women shave face" and found out that it is good for exfoliation!

Electrolysis in my mid 20's - 30 hours @ $50 per hour - galvanic, 16 needle machine.  I never had much facial hair to speak of, but what little I had was tenacious in hanging around.  Pre HRT I'd generally go in once a year for 30 min for a touch up (16 needle, galvanic).  I'm going to have to find time to go in sometime for this years touchup - it'll be interesting to see if anything matures into a full beard follicle on low dose HRT.
HRT late 30s (this year).

I was 34 when I started hormones.

I absolutely needed electrolysis and laser.

I chose  to do electro on my face because it's garaunteed permanent. I didnt start out with a full beard, i pretty much only had hair on my upper lip and chin area extending down to just above my adams apple. I've been at it for over 2 years now and just yesterday he finally got the last hairs that had never been zapped! This is not to say that I'm finished by any stretch Just that every hair on my face has been zapped at least once now.

I went with laser on my legs with good results, my pubic region was more tenacious, I need to go back and have some more work done there.

Hormones will do nothing for facial or pubic hair they might reduce body hair though that was not my experience.

Adults and teenagers are different. AlexisB's hair has a good chance of going away upon killing T soon at her age.

I'm actually in the process of doing electrolysis right now. I thought about laser, but I had a family member use it because he was tired of shaving and within a few years, he had a full beard, so I wasn't really feeling that one.

The electrolysis stings a little, but it's not too bad. I don't have any discomfort following the treatments and I go about twice a week for a half hour at a time. It costs me about $85/hr out here.

I'm in the middle of laser, and it seem to be going well.  I have found a place that will do my full face for £50 a session, for approximately 10 sessions if needed.  I'm also going every 3 weeks to speed up the attack on the more stubborn bits.

Or I started laser at 31, and hrt a year earlier.

Every three weeks may be a waste of money. You need to wait for a new growth cycle to start after the previous zapping. Three weeks is almost not enough time for the hairs to shed from the session before. My last session was two weeks ago yesterday and I still haven't shedded everything yet. I would wait 5 between sessions. When I started laser I asked about going every couple of weeks and my tech refused to let me, she said anything under a 4-5 weeks will make no difference.

Well originally she said that the minimum she would do is 4 weeks, but I asked if there was nothing that could speed it up.  She said while there are still stubborn areas she will do every 3 weeks.  Most of my hair drops out after 10 days so hopefully it should be productive.

I started HRT when I was 27. I'm on my 7th laser session on my face. I have been doing my entire body; every inch with laser. Depending on what the results are on my face in the next 6 months I'll get electrolysis in the summer next year. I'm fortunate I could never grow facial hair other then my chin and mustache area

I have probably a little over $1800 invested so far. Paid for my two first sessions upfront rather then doing the special and paying for 5 at once.
