Title: Post-op sitting
Post by: transfemalebutch on November 30, 2012, 12:56:56 PM
Hey y'all,

Names kay, used to go by a different name on here like 6 years ago than kinda forgot about it as life carried on. Anyway, fast forward 6 years and I am now recovering from SRS (brassard/Belanger, class of oct 2012  ;) )

I was curious what other folks experience with sitting was immediately post op? I'm at 4.5 weeks post-op now and am using the donut less and less (yay!). However sometimes when I sit upright it almost feels as if my whole vulva/vag area is pushing upward into my body. Its a bit hard to explain but it almost feels as if I still have a stent in me or something. Did other folks experience something similar? I'm gonna continue using my donut for as long as I need but I would like to get to the point where sitting doesn't feel like I'm "crunching" or,  worse, actually damaging, anything ya know?

Thanks in advance!
Xoxo

It's because everything is still so swollen. Your vag right now is like 3-4x the size it will eventually be. I tended to sort of sit back slouched with my hips tilted up so I wasn't pressing so much on the surgery site - sitting with your back straight is gonna be uncomfortable for a good while. I stopped using the donut after the first week, didn't like it much.

Oh and congrats on the surgery!

It felt like sitting on a tennis ball for a few months for me, which sounds about the same as you. I'm about four months out today, and still one-cheekin'-it on chairs that don't have much padding when I first throw myself down. Once I settle in, then I don't feel it anymore and spread out, so to speak. :)

Hey, I had surgery with Brassard/Belanger Class of July 2012 :) I hear exactly what you are feeling and I felt that too. It took a good full month before I could sit. It probably took two to two and a half before I could sit and not have to sit suuuuuper slow and uncomfortable. Now it's no problem. I still sometimes sit on a pillow. If I sit for long periods I get little feelings down there and have to shift. I will tell you that everything look good, I'm just past the last dot on all three dilators and the big orange one doesn't hurt too, too bad. Make sure you dilate regularly, keep everything clean, sleep naked for your three months, etc. It'll get better with time :) Meghan

Geez the Brassard-Belanger factory sure cranks us out huh? Another grad of 2012 (May).

I think the sitting problem comes from Brassard's Rolex he lost. :P

Nah, it's normal. Takes awhile. Like Meghan says just be diligent with things.

I never liked the donut much myself. I used to just sit over one leg under me and keep switching.
