Title: I need a mtf friend/mentor in NYC
Post by: Tanya on December 17, 2012, 08:50:19 AM
Hi,

I have been on the board quite some time, but mostly reading and absorbing.  I am 50, mtf, on hormones for 2+ years, but present as male.  I also do not see a full transition for me any time soon at this point.  Reasons being, my career, my height = 6'4", my family situation (kids etc).  I know I know, where there is a will there is a way - just that I haven't the guts to throw it all away without a back up plan.  I like what I do for a living (my own small but very visible business), I like my unsuspecting friends and the respect I have in my professional world, but I am seriously stuck!  I have a girlfriend who is sort of accepting of my situation - hoping it will all go away.  She and my endo are really the only people who know that I have GID and been on hormones.
I need someone I can talk to, someone who has been down this road and can relate.  Someone who is preferably tall as I am, runs a business and lives in NYC. I know this is a tall order (no pun intended), but I feel the need to relate to someone in a similar situation.

Anyone out there?
xo

Have you looked into the Callen-Lorde Center in NYC on W 18th? I was in an ftm support group there a decade ago. They had mtf groups as well. I'm almost certain they would have a group you could attend to meet others anonymously. They also have great therapists who are trans themselves. Good Luck!
