Title: when does acne start?
Post by: Michael Joseph on December 22, 2012, 12:48:04 AM
For those of you who got acne on T, when did it start to happen? Obviously its very different for everyone, I just want to get a basic idea. I'm 6 weeks on T right now.

Acne for me started off by looking like a little face rash, but by 4 months in acne became a problem on my face and shoulders. Not horribly bad, like maybe mild acne. Some bad break outs here and there on the face. Shoulder acne was different. Some nights after bathing, I was like, "wow, omg, how the heck did that happen?" And then the acne would go away, then it would re-appear again, then go away again.

I actually didn't get any acne until after a year or so. I don't think that's common though, i think for most it happens in the first few months.

After a month my face started breaking out terrible! My family is prone to very bad facial acne where it leaves potholes and scars. No back acne or chest. Now I god meds for it and my face is much clearer

Acne was the biggest thing I was worried about on T since I had it so badly in my teen years.  You can still see the scars.  My acne got a little worse for the first month or two but now it's practically disappeared.  So, that can happen too.

I would say within the first six months, I can't quite recall.
I never had an acne problem before t just a few pimples here and there, maybe a couple on my back.
But once I got on t it was like an explosion on my face and back. And it slowly spread to my shoulders. It's something I became depressed about.
It's been over a year and a half and it hasn't gone away.
At least I don't get painful back acne anymore, but the scars are still there. At times I couldn't sleep or be touched on my shoulders because of it.

When I started, I was still getting a bit of acne just naturally.
But it started getting really gnarly about 3 or 4 months along.
My best advice to you, if you're not on an acne medication yet (even just over the counter stuff)
Start a daily regimen now before it gets really bad.

^ THIS.

My doctor told me the day I got my 'script to start doing a daily face wash regimen to help combat acne before it starts. It's been working so far.

I'm about a week into my shots and this morning noticed a lot of bumps on my right shoulder. Seems like it can start early for some. I'm not dealing with it and will call my Endo after the Holidays and see if she will write me an Rx for something.

I actually find comfort in knowing I'm not the only person who had to go through this.
It was utter torture.

Don't count on it, but it is possible.  I'm not the only person I know of who had reduced acne on T.

My acne improved on T as well. Before T, I got really sore and swollen acne. Now, I do still get a few spots, and never have perfect skin, but the improvement is huge and the spots don't hurt.

I get a lot of the little ones along my shoulders and back but they're not large and unsightly. :P
