The Most Compelling LGBT People Of 2012

This year was full of historic moments for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. From huge political victories to the continuous onslaught of anti-LGBT rhetoric from pundits and lawmakers, there were plenty of stories that made headlines. But it was a number of prominent LGBT people themselves that captured our attention and, in many instances, our hearts.

As 2012 comes to a close, HuffPost Gay Voices is highlighting some of the incredible individuals and their actions that helped to make our community stronger and more vibrant this year. Because we always value your input, we also asked our readers to share their picks for LGBT people of the year. #3 Lana Wachowski
The co-director of "The Matrix" and the hit film "Cloud Atlas" became the first major Hollywood director to publicly come out as transgender in July. Lana Wachowski revealed she transitioned while promoting her new film this fall.

#7 Allyson Robinson
In October, Allyson Robinson, the Human Rights Campaign's first deputy director for employee programs, became the leader of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and OutServe, LGBT armed services support groups that recently merged into one entity.

The transgender activist is an army veteran and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

So did she take the blue pill or the red pill? I am surprised by this one, I wonder how it would have been if she transitioned before the matrix movies. I would have to imagine having some extra money helped that process along rather well.
