Title: For the guys with facial hair
Post by: tvc15 on December 30, 2012, 02:35:30 PM
So, my hair is blond-ish, but my body hair is all dark. My 'stache and chin hairs are dark and have been since they first appeared on my face. The hair on the rest of my face is a different story. It has slowly gone from the forest of peach fuzz to individual strands of hair. But, this new hair is super fine and blond. It's not coarse at all either, it's soft. It's way more visible than peach fuzz, in how it catches the light, and how long it can grow. I just shaved yesterday and I now have "stubble" there that is blond. My question is, is this an intermediate stage and the hair is going to grow in darker somewhere down the line? Do you guys remember a stage like this with your facial hair? How long did it take for it to come in darker?

Depends on your genetics. I've known cis guys who had fine teenage-style facial hair in their twenties. Maybe some have it even later.

I'm not the best barometer because I come from a fairly hairy family but was on finasteride for about half of my time on T (four years in February). But my facial hair has been coarsening up for quite some time now. Some of it is still finer than a mature man's beard, and some of it seems just as coarse. My main issue now is coverage--it's still not as thick as it should be.

I have no doubt that I would have been farther along if I hadn't taken finasteride.

I've forgotten; how long have you been on T, and have you been on a fairly high dose?

I'm dark blond, and also have somewhat dark body hair. The facial hair came in light blond and has darkened over time, as it got coarser. Most of it is now the same color as my hair, but the "youngest" strands are very light.

I forget how long it took, but I had been on T for a year and a half before I decided to let the beard grow, before that the strands were just too light and thin.

Mine is mostly that fine "in-between" stage at the moment, but the coverage is good.  However in the past couple of months it has started to coarsen dramatically.  It came in black, but my hair is black anyway.  I have some gray stache hairs which is pretty awesome.

When mine first started coming in I remember it was long, soft, fine, and dark (kinda like the hair on top of my arms). I kept myself clean shaven for years (I was a waiter and it was required) but once I started growing it out it has gotten coarser over time. For a few years I had a few orange and blonde hairs in my goatee (I was calico, lol) but over time it seems they have went black as well. Now I have a complete beard except for right on top of my chin. My soul patch and space in the middle of my mustache is finally coming in though (yay).

18-ish months, and I was on a low dose for the first couple of months, with only one small shot a month. Then my doctor ramped it up two more times. I've been on the so-called "standard dose" for a couple months now. I've definitely seen more changes since getting onto my current dose, but it hasn't been a super long time yet.

i would say they are intermediate hairs because i have some on my face that are similar to peach fuzz but they are long and thicker and i have dark hairs mixed in with them and i started off only having the blond ones.

I'm dark blondish and the vast majority of my body hair is blond, some of it very pale blond. My beard is reddish and very full. I could grow a Dumbledore beard if I'm not careful. I've been on T several years.
