My cross-dressing shame: It is my secret dream to become a woman

I really love the feel of lingerie against my body and order things from Victoria's Secret at least once every month.

Dear Coleen,

How do you tell your girlfriend you wear women's underwear?

I have to be so secretive whenever she's around.

She doesn't excite me at all, but I do love her a lot – we were high school sweethearts.

I really love the feel of lingerie against my body and order things from Victoria's Secret at least once every month.

I like to wear women's hosiery whenever I can, concealing it under jeans or trousers, but I've never been out in public dressed in women's clothes.

I think all the time about wearing make-up and even want to become a woman properly.

Am I crazy? Do I need therapy?

I just don't know whether to tell my girlfriend and risk hurting her and our daughter.

I'd say disappointing. Seems like Coleen didn't take a few minutes to educate herself about transgender. Didn't even use that word.

yeah her last reply was "you should think about having a sex change?"

I was like ...hmmm

It could be that this guy is just a crossdresser or it could be more. You're right...she kinda skirted the issue. She should have consulted an expert prior to writing back

Actually, the advice lady said: "I would also get advice from your doctor if a sex change is something you're considering."

I think pure CDs are very rare, I think most self or so called CDs are Tg and eventually most of them end up transitioning to some degree.

Once you start taking pill to change this or that, and you state "you want to be a woman"  well honey you are not a CD in my book but a TS or TG

I've never understood what's so bad about the term "sex change". I know it's considered outdated, but for people who go through transition (including surgery), it is accurate. I'm in transition, and it's my external sex characteristics that I'm changing. It's not so complicated, and I don't feel that it does "the community" any favors do jump down peoples' throats about unpreferred yet ultimately benign terminology.

I think the advice given by the columnist was actually very thoughtful and right on.

the problem is that society equates sex with gender. I like the term gender affirming surgery. Also, my genitals are not my sex.

When I started dressing I thought that was as far as I would go. Wow, was I wrong!
Glad I was.

I'm going to repeat something I wrote in a scrap book for the old Ladies First support group in Fredricksburg Virginia back in 1997:

"STOP THE SHAME , there is NO SHAME in cross dressing ".
