Its like waxing yet slower but less pain after hairs are gone.
It's not just the first time. ;D

Then in 1 month when my mustache is finally back I will test that :P At least you say it gets better !
It does get better. I have been using one on my legs and arms for about 6 months and I barely feel a thing when I use it now. It was totally worth the pain the first few times.

I got a real shock when I first used it today wasnt expecting the pain  I mean I am someone who cant actually walk bare foot because my skin is so soft I get cut easily.

Oh, dear. I bet that was so much worse for you than it was for me. Might I suggest you stay away from your upper chest, around the belly button, and the bikini area. I'm not as sensitive as you and those areas hurt like h***!!

It does eventually ease off. I experience no pain at all on my arms and legs after 12 months. My chest and stomach is getting thinner as my hormonal balance has changed, so they are no more than a discomfort to do.
You will NOT be doing your moustache if you cannot tolerate pain. You have not experienced pain until you try epilating your face. I advise against it, but by all means have a go ... >:-)
You will not do it twice!

I can survive!! :'( I am lying to myself again :'(
Hi All,
I've been using the epilator for a long time now. The secret is to NOT let the hairs grow too long. Use a trimmer to shorten them. Stick with it, the results are wonderful. I do almost my entire body now! Just do one area at a time. Legs today, chest tomorrow, etc.
Beauty is pain!

I find it's less painful if you keep up a schedule. The more hair that has come back, the more it hurts. When it's only grabbing a couple at a time, it's just a mild sting, almost painless.
As Emily said, the more often you do it, the less it hurts as there are fewer hairs.
OTOH, since I started HRT, it hurts more than it used to :/

if you are planning on electrolosys then it's not advised to use an epilator on facial hair, the woman I saw to have a test patch done told me that epilating facial hair can make her job harder.
She did explain why but i'll be damned if I can remember now, as the hair grows back finer it may be harder to grab or it may do something to the roots?
Does anyone know for definate why epilating makes electrolosys harder/ less effective?
As for the pain, i've been doing my legs for possibly 6 months & all I feel is the roller rubbing against my leg, instead of pain it's almost comforting, maybe that just means i'm weirder than I previously thought
Yeah, Epilating is not fun, I remember after the first time I used one, I had the worst time with ingrown hairs afterwards, Plus after using ut a few times I killed it, I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet though, As of now I'm keeping to waxing and shaving.
One tip to ease the pain in the early days of epilating, have a bath or shower, pat your skin dry & epilate before the moisture in your skin evaporates, have as cold a shower as you can stand after as this reduces the rash & takes away the heat from the rash thus reducing itching.
Also, pull the skin as tight as possible
Mine doesn't seem to work all that well anymore. :(
I remember quite vividly my first time. The pain did get less, but I recall stopping several times that first go cause I couldn't handle it.
It took 3 days to do my legs & 3 bottles of vodka. not fun, well the vodka was fun
