MAYA BLACKMUN

The event was sponsored by the Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Clackamas County Chapter, who kept word about the event low-key, fearing a backlash against the youths. Working with Gay Straight Alliance student groups in area high schools, they invited lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual teens and their friends to the "Free to Be" masquerade ball.
