It is a year today since I last washed my hair. My days of rubbing chemical-laden detergent into my scalp are over. My hair now enjoys a product-free life.
First let's get a few things straight. My hair is not in the least greasy. In fact it's quite soft. And neither is it, in any sense, 'dirty.' I rinse it with the shower spray every two or three days to get off the dust and sweat. Then I comb it through, push it into shape and leave it to dry naturally. Total time outlay: about two minutes. I also brush it rigorously for thirty seconds or so at least once a day with a bristle hairbrush which I'm careful to keep very clean. Sluttish I am definitely not. ..........................

I brush my hair nightly and in the morning. I use leave in conditioner every 2-3 days. I also only wash my hair once a week period. My hair is always fly away after I wash it, but during the week is it soft and non-greasy.
When I was a teenager I once went through a period of not washing my hair for several weeks. My hair was disgustingly greasy for the first two weeks, but during the third week the greasiness disappeared and my hair just seemed healthy. My hair had been restored to its natural state and it looked & felt great.
Face it, humans aren't 'designed' to wash our hair and it's only within the last century or so that it became commonplace for some people to wash their hair regularly. Most of our ancestors wouldn't have washed their hair... ever.
I've stopped "washing" my hair. I'll rinse it out and condition and Bly break out the shampoo if it's actually dirty, since then my hair shines more, looks more healthy and the curls tend to keep longer. I can even sleep on the curls and they still look good the next day. I never realized how damaging simple washing could be until I stopped!
