Title: Hair regrowth??
Post by: Alex_K on January 22, 2013, 07:46:53 AM
Hi!

I'll start HRT very soon, and I'm worried about one of the things that I think might affect my passability: hairline. My hair is very thin and I've noticed that it's been falling a lot lately (probably due to stress, dunno). I know I'm not going bald, but I'm more aware of my male receeding hairline.

So... how does HRT affect hair regrowth and distribution? Did you experience any??

Thank you very much :-)

My wife noticed a lot of new short hairs from being on spiro. Says it is starting to fill in and get thicker. I noticed new ones where my hairline had receded. Good luck!

May I ask how long it took to notice that regrowth since you started hormones? Thanks :-)

Just about the one month mark she noticed. I learned after a bit to stop looking for things and to just let them happen, so it was nice she caught it.

I had started to develop the classic male heart shape hairline.  After a few months on anti androgens, the worst parts had developed fine hairs.  A year later I have nearly a normal oval shaped hairline, and there are now fine hairs that will fill in over what ever was left.  Hopefully in the the next few months it should look completely oval.  I have supplemented the hair growth at times with Minoxidil, but using that has been sporadic.  The lack of testosterone seems to have been the biggest help.  Of course YMMV

I would also recommend the vitamin supplement Biotin!

I got alot of regrowth, I had a very noticable M shaped hairline 1 year ago. No its not M shaped anymore. But the hairline is high as it is on my female relatives too.

Lord almighty, I hope this happens.

I can kinda-sorta hide it, but my hairline is absolutely M-shaped. (Possibly even worse! :( ) Having the oval pattern back would be a dream come true.

I'm really hoping for some hair regrowth, I've been on HRT for 7 months now and I haven't noticed any difference on my head. (I did notice a huge change when it came to the hair on my face, which went from shave twice a week to not having shaved for months and months now.)

But I believe the reason why I got so thin hair is because, well, I don't eat as I should. I average about 450 kcal a day. I just don't get hungry and forget to eat.

So, as long as you eat, I believe there is a high chance of noticing a positive improvment.
