Post by: imperfectlyperfect on January 25, 2013, 06:13:18 PM
I've heared in some cases where post-op gals married a man. Then again, I heared some cases where we can.....so what's the truth???  ???

Well, if you're still legally one gender and try to marry someone of that gender, it won't work.

Of course, this doesn't apply when gay marriage is allowed where you live, but it's still legally a "gay" marriage.

Depends on where you. The interesting bit is in jurisdictions that does not recognize same sex marriage (but may grant equivalents such as civil partnership), where someone married has his/her gendered subsequently altered...then either an exception must be made for that particular same sex marriage or the original marriage converted to civil partnership.

Of course you can get married. I know of no such thing as a special rule for transgender people. However, if you're in a place where homosexual marriage is not permitted, if you are legally the same gender as your partner, you can't. Then you'd need to change your legal gender (which requires anything from letters to full SRS depending on the country) before marrying then. Some places have crossbearer-friendly alternatives like de facto unions and civil partnerships, though, which are often very similar to marriage, except without the word, so people can't say things like "marriage is the union of a man and a woman".

Post SRS provided that you can get your birth certificate gender changed than I cannot see why you cannot get married and have it legally recognized no matter where you live.

Otherwise you are limited to jurisdictions to where same sex marraiges are recognized. Once you move into one that isn't, all bets are off as to what will be legally recognized.

I can't really add more to very good replys, I was physically born a ''man'' I transition, Im now physically and legally a woman, now legally married to a man, so Im one of those cases you'v heard about, Im a post-op girl married to a man.
Im now just another normal ordinary housewife with a husband, the normality of it all.
