Title: 'Rachael's Cafe' - the play about being transgender on the Bible Belt
Post by: slucyd on January 26, 2013, 11:26:09 AM
Hey everyone.

This is a really lovely and interesting forum. I just wanted to share the link to the website and facebook group for my play 'Rachael's Cafe'. It's a mix of fact and fiction and based on my interviews with Rachael Jones, a wonderful pre-op trans (M-T-F) lady that I met when I was studying on the Bible Belt in Indiana, USA. She's a pretty awesome and inspirational lady - after she couldn't get work dressed as a woman she remortgaged her house, received a loan from a friend and opened 'Rachael's Cafe', a little oasis where she can be herself and with the motto 'Everyone's welcome. No exceptions'.

We took the play to the Edinburgh Fringe 2011 (and Rachael flew in to see it!), the Brighton Fringe 2012 and Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2012. We got some wonderful reviews and are currently planning to tour it. Any support would be welcome, your feedback, comments, interest in seeing the play.
